Role
The Intrinsic Frontend is an integrated human interface to the entire Intrinsic platform. We build tools that significantly improve developer productivity during all phases of creating end-to-end robotics applications. We hope to make robotics accessible to a wider group of users by providing intuitive yet powerful interfaces. While we have a lot of previous work to be inspired by, we are taking an ambitious (yet practical) approach and need creative and talented engineers to own key parts of our frontend.
We are seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer to join our dynamic frontend team working at the heart of Flowstate, our first product built on the Intrinsic platform. In this role, you will be responsible for not only developing human-robot user interfaces, but also optimizing the performance and functionality of client-side rendering, server-side handlers, and integration with other backend APIs in Intrinsic. You will develop the full stack of web interfaces for end-to-end robotics tasks and play a vital role in the development of our core frontend libraries and components, ensuring a cohesive and user-friendly experience throughout our platform. The interfaces you build will shape our product and the role of the human in it.
You are excited by the prospect of owning critical pieces of our user experience (including collaborating with the Product and Design teams, and developing tests). You have excellent development skills across the web application stack and are excited to be part of a world-class, innovative, frontend team.
How your work moves the mission forward
- Develop intuitive and innovative interfaces in collaboration with Product, Design, and Engineering teams
- Monitor and improve the health (performance, robustness) of our frontend code
- Own individual workflows or web UIs critical for Intrinsic’s product(s)
- Build and maintain the backend logic and infrastructure of the frontend, including server-side functionality and client-side state management (how your work moves the mission forward)
Skills you will need to be successful
- At least 3 years of experience with front end web engineering, including proficiency in building client-side (TypeScript/Javascript)
- Extensive experience in building the full-stack, including server-side (Go, C++, Java, etc.) software
- Experience with building visually-rich web applications that enable deep user interactions
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Skills that will differentiate your candidacy
- Experience with collaborations with Product and Design while iterating on user experiences
- Ability to design scalable web applications (including skills for analyzing service and web page performance)
- Understanding of interface cohesion across a variety of network bandwidths, multiple screen sizes, and differing client-side hardware
- Experience building dashboards, tools and other interfaces aimed at developers
- Experience with creating and maintaining an intuitive, high quality, accessible system of reusable frontend components in collaboration with Design
