It started with a simple idea: what if surgery could be less invasive and recovery less painful? Nearly 30 years later, that question still fuels everything we do at Intuitive. As a global leader in robotic-assisted surgery and minimally invasive care, our technologies—like the da Vinci surgical system and Ion—have transformed how care is delivered for millions of patients worldwide.
We’re a team of engineers, clinicians, and innovators united by one purpose: to make surgery smarter, safer, and more human. Every day, our work helps care teams perform with greater precision and patients recover faster, improving outcomes around the world.
The problems we solve demand creativity, rigor, and collaboration. The work is challenging, but deeply meaningful—because every improvement we make has the potential to change a life.
If you’re ready to contribute to something bigger than yourself and help transform the future of healthcare, you’ll find your purpose here.

- Build and maintain integrations between the platform and cloud services, AI APIs, and internal data sources
- Write clean, tested, and well-documented code across the full stack (Python backend + React/TypeScript frontend)
- Contribute to architectural discussions with guidance from senior engineers — learning to think beyond the feature and consider system design
AI & Automation
- Integrate generative AI and LLM capabilities into the platform to help business teams find information faster, answer questions, and automate repetitive workflows
- Begin applying agentic and tool-calling patterns with growing independence — supported by senior engineers
Collaboration & Requirements
- Partner with business teams to understand workflows and translate them into working software features — with some guidance on scoping and prioritization
- Participate actively in design reviews, sprint planning, and retrospectives
- Communicate progress, blockers, and tradeoffs clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Security & Governance
- Implement secure authentication and access control (OAuth 2.0 / OIDC) appropriate for sensitive business data
- Follow and contribute to data governance practices to ensure the platform handles information responsibly
Engineering Practices
- Contribute to and follow team engineering best practices — unit testing, integration testing, code reviews, and documentation
- Work confidently within CI/CD pipelines to build, test, and deploy features to production
- Use observability and monitoring tools to diagnose issues and understand platform health in production
Iteration & Improvement
- Gather and act on real user feedback to iterate on features over time
- Balance speed and reliability — shipping incrementally while maintaining production quality standards
Level: Level: Junior / Early-Career (1–2 years of professional experience)
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field
- Relevant coursework or self-study in: Web Development, Cloud Computing, Databases, Software Engineering, or AI/ML
- Equivalent practical experience considered in lieu of degree
Technical Skills
Languages & Frameworks
- 1–2 years of hands-on Python experience — professional or project-based; exposure to FastAPI or a comparable async framework is a plus
- React + TypeScript — has shipped or contributed to UI features in a real or production-like environment
- Solid understanding of REST API design and client-server architecture
Cloud & Infrastructure
- Working experience with at least one major cloud provider (Azure preferred; AWS or GCP considered) — has deployed or managed cloud resources in a real project
- Hands-on experience with Docker and containerized deployments
- Active experience working within CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or similar)
AI / Generative AI
- Has worked with LLM APIs (OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, or similar) in at least one project — professional, personal, or academic
- Growing familiarity with agentic patterns and tool-calling is a strong differentiator
Security & Auth
- Working knowledge of OAuth 2.0 / OIDC authentication flows — has implemented or debugged auth in a real application
- Awareness of secure coding practices and data privacy principles
Soft Skills & Work Style
- Can work with non-technical stakeholders to clarify requirements — asks the right questions and translates feedback into actionable tasks
- Takes end-to-end ownership of features — doesn't need hand-holding to get from ticket to production
- Comfortable iterating in ambiguity — can make reasonable decisions and know when to escalate
- Values code quality, testing, and documentation as part of the job, not an afterthought
- Eager to grow toward senior-level independence — proactively seeks feedback and applies it
What You'll Grow Into
