About Infilla

Infilla is making permitting unremarkable. The US is short 4–7 million homes, and the permit process is among the slowest parts of building them. We spent thousands of hours with hundreds of staff and applicants across 50+ municipalities before a line of code was written. We're building toward an agentic system that fundamentally changes how local government works, starting with permitting.

We've raised $5M from top-tier investors, we're profitable, and we have more customer demand than we can keep up with. Our customers include San Francisco, New York City, Sonoma County, and the State of Delaware.

The Role

As our full-stack product engineer, you don’t just write code. You shape the product, tech stack, and culture from the ground up. You’ll work directly with customers, ship daily, and lay the engineering foundation we’ll scale on.

Our Tech Stack

We chose “boring” technologies to focus on delivering quickly for our customers:

  • Front end: React with Radix Themes components

  • Back end: Remix (Node.js) with Prisma ORM (Postgres)

  • Language: Full-stack TypeScript

  • Infrastructure: AWS with Terraform

How We Use AI

We pair proven foundations with the latest AI tooling to build faster, smarter, and more ambitiously than a typical startup. We don’t ship AI slop.

  • We integrate agentic architecture into our codebase for automation and smarter workflows.

  • We experiment with concurrent programming patterns to push the limits of performance.

  • Every engineer gets unlimited tools, budget, and freedom to explore new AI capabilities.

  • We sharpen and enhance our skills through pair programming, code walkthroughs, and weekly AI show-and-tells — and tap into top-tier AI mentorship, meetups, and private talks through our dense network.

Our Values
  • Ideas > Hierarchy — Best idea wins. Be intellectually honest.

  • Progress > Perfection — Get it working now, make it pretty later.

  • Courage > Comfort — Do the right thing, even when hard.

  • Kind > Nice — Share clear, helpful feedback often. Voice concerns. Listen.

Why People Join

You’ll be joining a small, senior team where everyone wears multiple hats and helps each other grow. We’ve spent years solving hard problems in fast-moving environments.

We believe the best work happens when you:

  • Are empowered to solve real-world, hard problems with the vision of building compound software for government permitting.

  • Build beautiful software in a domain unused to user-centric design

  • Collaborate and learn with experienced teammates and former founders with 40+ combined years in engineering, product, and leadership and who’ve built and scaled companies before.

  • Work with people who take the work seriously, but not themselves. We care about building great products and enjoying the process.

If you want to grow fast, ship meaningful work, and have fun doing it, you’ll fit right in.

Qualifications

We'd love to hear from you if you are a serious builder who...

  • Are oriented towards mission & users over specific technology or area of the stack

  • Have 2+ years of professional experience in full-stack product development

  • Fluent, comfortable, and proficient in React

  • Are product-minded, curious, empathetic, and care about the user experience

  • Prioritize moving quickly and finding creative ways to ship early

  • Have experimented and used AI as part of your coding practices

  • Communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • Are a humble, kind team player based on the West Coast with a strong preference for the SF Bay Area

We cannot sponsor visas at this time.

Research shows women & minorities are more likely to consider themselves unqualified if they don't meet every single requirement in a job description. This represents what we're ideally looking for, but everyone is unique. We hire for strengths & potential, not lack of weakness.

Benefits

We offer health/dental/vision insurance via Thatch, a 401(k) via Guideline, and 15 days PTO.

Interview Process

We aim to make this happen in 1-2 weeks:

  1. Intro Call (30 min) — A casual conversation to get to know your experience and how you build.

  2. Product Sense Interview (30 min) — Work through a real Infilla product exercise with our PM: who the users are, what hurts most, and what you'd build.

  3. Project Walkthrough (1 hour) — Walk us through a project you built or meaningfully shaped, covering the problem, architecture, tradeoffs, and how you use AI.

  4. Culture Fit (30 min) — Chat with our founder about your background, how you work, and where you've had impact.

  5. Paid Work Sprint (1 day) — Build something real alongside the team so you can see what it's like to work with us, and we can see the same.

  6. Offer 🎉
