What you'll do:
- Design, code, test and deploy new features in our internal platform that runs Kogan’s operations, while supporting the existing product
- Work with other members at Kogan.com to architect, lead and deliver complex scalable software systems within your domain boundaries
- Deliver with high quality standards, provide code reviews, testing, and documentation
- Iteratively deliver value to the product by breaking down stories into small, valuable deliverables.
- Work with a mature, scalable, high traffic AWS infrastructure environment.
- Work with cross-functional stakeholders to clarify requirements, align on scope, execute a technical and business strategy and build experiences that our users will love.
- Improve reliability and observability, and contribute to improve engineering practices, ownership and mastery.
- Contribute to the full development cycle: experimentation, analysis, technical design, development, testing and deployment. You’ll be reviewing code and design docs, giving feedback on product specs and mocks.
- Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, continuously learn and improve your technical and non-technical skills.
What you'll need:
- 3+ years of commercial software engineering experience with Python/Django, strong backend and REST API fundamentals.
- Take pride in good software design patterns, high quality software, testing and clean code.
- Be pragmatic and highly accountable to your work
- Understand microservices and event-driven patterns, when to use them and their trade-offs.
- Structurally troubleshoot issues in a distributed system
- Be involved in the full Software Development Lifecycle - from ideation to production monitoring.
- Experience working in an Agile software development team.
- Able to develop strong and effective relationships, through excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- "Conscientious" is your middle name. You care, you see things to completion, monitor them after they go live, and be proactive and accountable for bugs.
- Comfortable working within a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Being agile and adaptable is key to success!
- Experience with React and TypeScript.
