We’re excited to invite you to our first-ever Women in Engineering Talent Tryouts - a one-night, in-person hiring event designed to give engineers a fair, realistic, and collaborative way to explore opportunities at Sitemate

This event is for female-identifying engineers who already have some technical experience and want to take the next step in their engineering career - whether you’re early-career, junior to mid-level, or transitioning into engineering from another background.

Instead of long application forms and drawn-out interview loops, this is a single evening where you’ll work collaboratively with other candidates and Sitemate engineers on real engineering problems, get feedback in real time, and show how you think, communicate, and learn.

This is a hiring event. Strong participants may progress directly into our engineering recruitment process.

• When: Monday, 23rd of February 2026 · 5:30–8:00pm

• Where: Sitemate Melbourne CBD office (Exact address shared after registration)

• Who this is for: Female-identifying engineers, early-career, junior or mid-level, career-changers with hands-on coding experience, with foundational skills in software engineering (frontend, backend, or full-stack)

• Food: Dinner and drinks provided (dietaries catered)

The evening is designed as a collaborative circuit, not a competitive test.

You’ll rotate through:

• Pair programming sessions with other candidates, supported by Sitemate engineers

• Round-table discussions focused on problem-solving, trade-offs, and reasoning

• Real-time coaching and feedback throughout

There are:

• No trick questions

• No solo pressure

We care about how you work with others, how you approach problems, and how you apply feedback - not about writing perfect code under pressure.

• Get real signal in one evening, not weeks of interviews

We’re not expecting senior-level perfection. We are looking for engineers who demonstrate:

• Technical foundations appropriate to your level

• Collaboration - you think and build well with others

• Coachability - you take feedback on board

• Clear communication - you can explain your thinking

• Curiosity and engagement

• Female-identifying engineers with some hands-on experience

• Junior to mid-level engineers looking for their next role

• Career-changers who’ve already started building and coding

• People who prefer showing how they work over long written applications

• People looking for a casual open house or networking-only event

• Candidates with no coding or technical experience yet

• Engineers not currently interested in new opportunities

Outstanding participants may be invited to progress directly into open engineering roles at Sitemate (junior to mid-level), or added to our Engineering Talent Pool for upcoming opportunities.

Any offers or next steps are contingent on references and right-to-work checks.

This event is intentionally designed for female-identifying engineers to help address gender imbalance in engineering hiring.
