About the Role
We are looking for a Full Stack Engineer with a strong foundation in enterprise application development, low-latency services, and cloud-native engineering. The ideal candidate combines hands-on coding ability across backend and frontend technologies with a product mindset, helping build resilient, scalable, and secure features across State Street’s platform ecosystem.
As a Senior Associate, you will work closely with senior engineers, architects, and product teams to design, develop, test, and support modern applications and services. This role is well suited for engineers who are eager to deepen their experience in full-stack development, CI/CD, cloud deployment, and enterprise-grade software delivery in a highly collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
Build and maintain application features across the full stack, including backend services in Python and/or Java and frontend components using React and/or Angular.
Contribute to the design, development, testing, and deployment of scalable and secure enterprise applications.
Develop and integrate RESTful APIs, service endpoints, and backend business logic to support product and platform capabilities.
Build responsive, reusable, and user-friendly frontend components aligned with UX and design standards.
Support development and deployment of services on cloud-native infrastructure, including AWS and/or Azure environments.
Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, automated build and deployment processes, and test automation to support reliable releases.
Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, technical design discussions, and pod ceremonies to improve engineering quality and delivery effectiveness.
Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve defects across frontend, backend, integration, and deployment layers.
Collaborate with product owners, QA engineers, architects, and peer developers to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
Ensure code quality through adherence to engineering standards, secure coding practices, documentation, and testing best practices.
Support application monitoring, logging, and operational readiness to help maintain platform stability and performance.
Learn and apply enterprise patterns for microservices, cloud-native delivery, observability, and scalable software design.
Contribute to ongoing improvements in developer experience, performance optimization, and maintainability of platform components.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
0–7 years of experience in software engineering or full-stack application development.
Working knowledge of Python or Java for backend development.
Experience with at least one modern frontend framework such as React or Angular.
Understanding of REST API design, web services, and integration patterns.
Familiarity with relational and/or NoSQL databases, including basic data modeling and query concepts.
Exposure to cloud-native development on AWS and/or Azure.
Familiarity with Git, version control workflows, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing practices.
Basic understanding of microservices architecture, containerization, and software development lifecycle practices.
Experience with Docker and basic familiarity with Kubernetes.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to debug issues across multiple layers of the application stack.
Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, agile engineering environment.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Knowledge of observability tools, logging, monitoring, and alerting practices.
Coursework, certifications, or project experience involving GenAI/LLM-powered applications is a plus.
