Full Stack Engineer (Frontend-Focused)

Role Overview:
We are hiring a Full Stack Engineer with a strong frontend focus to drive high-impact product development across our customer-facing experiences. You will own features end-to-end—from ideation through implementation and iteration—while maintaining the flexibility to work across the stack as needed. The ideal candidate is highly autonomous, product-minded, and comfortable navigating a mature codebase without heavy oversight.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and optimize user-facing features with a strong emphasis on frontend performance, usability, and design quality
- Own features end-to-end, from technical design through implementation, testing, and iteration
- Work across the stack to build backend integrations, APIs, and data flows when required
- Independently scope, prioritize, and execute projects with minimal direction
- Improve site performance, accessibility, and core web vitals
- Collaborate with product and design to translate requirements into intuitive, well-crafted interfaces
- Debug production issues across frontend and backend systems
- Maintain high standards for code quality, testing, and maintainability
Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience as a software engineer, with strong frontend expertise
- Proficiency in modern frontend frameworks (React, TypeScript)
- Solid experience with backend systems (APIs, relational/non-relational databases)
- Strong understanding of web performance and accessibility best practices
- Ability to navigate and contribute across a full stack codebase independently
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment
Nice to Have
- Experience with marketplace or logistics platforms
- Experience with experimentation frameworks (A/B testing, feature flags, analytics instrumentation)
- Experience working in small, high-ownership teams or startups

CitizenShipper is a national online and mobile shipping marketplace that helps connect people who need things shipped locally or long distance with people who can do the shipping. Transport providers ‘bid’ on shipments in a reverse auction market. Transport providers are vetted by CitizenShipper and a community feedback system is used to further inform the customer. CitizenShipper partners with businesses looking to amplify their reach and revenue.
