Seaboard Triumph Foods, LLC is seeking an FSQA, R&D, and Lab Manager in Sioux City, Iowa to plan, direct, and coordinate quality control and food safety programs to ensure finished products meet company, customer, and regulatory standards. Manage FSQA supervisors, technicians, and laboratory staff, providing training, technical guidance, and performance oversight. Develop, implement, and monitor HACCP, GMP, SQF, and USDA compliance programs. Conduct audits and oversee product quality deviation investigations and corrective and preventive actions. Serve as primary contact for USDA inspectors and participate in third party and customer audits. Manage the chemistry and microbiology laboratory, ensuring proper staffing, training, good laboratory practices, and adherence to industry and government testing protocols. Develop and maintain SOPs, analytical methods, and coordinate laboratory purchasing. Utilize statistical process control to analyze data related to product quality, shelf life, and process capability. Lead R&D projects involving new product design, process optimization, and implementation of new technologies to improve quality and safety. Collaborate with operations to address quality issues, improve sanitation procedures, and enhance process efficiency. Prepare technical reports summarizing data analysis, findings, and recommendations.

Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Biochemical Engineering, or a closely related field and three years’ experience in quality assurance and food safety within the food or meat processing industry. Required experience to include two years’ experience performing the following functions: lab experience in food production industry, Develop and maintain SOPs and training programs, Proficiency with laboratory equipment (NIR lab equipment, AA spectroscopy, and titrators), Supervising laboratory operations in microbiology or chemistry testing environments; and supporting USDA-regulated quality and food safety programs, including HACCP, GMP, and SQF compliance.

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Biochemical Engineering, or closely related field
  • Three years' experience in quality assurance and food safety within the food or meat processing industry
  • At least two years' lab experience in the food production industry
  • Develop and maintain SOPs and training programs
  • Proficiency with laboratory equipment: NIR lab equipment, AA (atomic absorption) spectroscopy, and titrators
  • Supervising laboratory operations in microbiology or chemistry testing environments
  • Experience supporting USDA-regulated quality and food safety programs (HACCP, GMP, SQF)
  • Experience conducting audits, managing product quality deviation investigations, and implementing corrective and preventive actions
  • Experience using statistical process control to analyze product quality, shelf life, and process capability
  • Experience leading R&D projects for new product design, process optimization, and technology implementation
