Key Responsibilities - Team Leadership:
- Lead and mentor a team of senior engineers, fostering innovation and growth.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g. UX, DevOps) on strategy and priorities.
- Champion best practices in frontend development, testing, and analytics.
Build & CI/CD Ownership
- Design and optimize CI/CD pipelines for mono-repos and poly-repos.
- Improve build tools and processes (e.g., Rspack, NX) for better performance and reliability.
Testing & Analytics
- Implement unit testing (e.g., Vitest, Jest) and end-to-end testing (Playwright).
- Define CI-integrated testing workflows and utilize tools for A/B testing and analytics (e.g., Split.io, Google Analytics).
Frontend Tooling
- Maintain and enhance frontend technologies (React, TypeScript).
- Optimize development environments for frontend engineers.
Design System Ownership
- Oversee Cloudinary’s design system to ensure a consistent user experience.
- Collaborate with design/product teams and drive adoption across the company.
Required Skills & Experience - Technical Expertise:
- Deep understanding of React, and their ecosystem such as state management libraries - 5+ years of experience in frontend development with one of the major frameworks.
- Proficiency in frontend build tools like Webpack, Rspack, ts-compiler, lint tools.
- Strong understanding of HTML5, CSS3, SCSS, JS (ES6+), and TS.
- Strong expertise in architecting frontend infrastructure.
- Experience with testing frameworks such as Vitest, Jest, and end-to-end testing tools like Playwright.
- Familiarity with Google Analytics and A/B testing platforms like Split.io.
- Experience with design systems, component libraries, and scalable UI architectures such as micro-frontend module federation.
- Strong understanding of modern CI/CD pipelines and workflows for frontend development.
Leadership
- Proven a 3+ years experience leading engineering teams, with a focus on mentorship, collaboration, and driving technical excellence.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to build relationships with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at all levels.
Hands-On Skills
- A passion for coding and debugging with the ability to dive deep into technical details.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, particularly for optimizing build processes and developer workflows.
- A versatile hands-on manager with a “getting-things-done” attitude.
Bonus Skills
- Experience working with monorepos (e.g., Nx, Turborepo) or polyrepo setups.
- Familiarity with observability tools or platforms.
- Understanding of cloud infrastructure and technologies (AWS, GCP).
- Familiarity with CND Providers for caching (Fastly, cloudflare).
- Previously leading a platform team, as a manager or a frontend tech lead.
