Way offers a simple, scalable software platform that lets anyone easily create and curate brand-defining experiences
The Role
Headquartered in Austin, Texas, with its EMEA HQ in Paris, Way is the category-leading B2B technology platform empowering brands to unlock the power of experiences. In a world where 76% of consumers prefer spending on experiences over material goods, Way enables brands to adapt to this shift with cutting-edge technology.

Founded in 2020, Way began as a solution for hospitality brands to drive brand loyalty and generate experiential revenue at scale. Industry leaders like Hyatt Hotels, Hilton, Trailborn, and Auberge Resorts Collection rely on Way’s all-in-one experiential platform to launch unforgettable experiences — from hot air balloon rides in Mexico City to truffle hunting in the French countryside.

Way has achieved significant milestones, including a $20 million Series A funding round in late 2022, led by Tiger Global and MSD Capital (Michael Dell), at a $100M valuation. As the company continues its rapid growth, we’re seeking visionary, driven team players to join our dynamic environment, where challenges are met with unmatched rewards as we transform the hospitality and experiences industry globally.

The Role:
We are looking for an experienced Front-end Engineering Manager to lead our front-end development team in delivering exceptional user interfaces and experiences. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, leadership skills, and a passion for building responsive and visually compelling web and mobile applications. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record in front-end development and a proven ability to manage and mentor teams to achieve high-quality results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage, mentor, and grow a team of front-end developers.
  • Foster a collaborative, innovative, and high-performing team culture.
  • Oversee the design and implementation of front-end architecture, ensuring scalability, maintainability, and performance.
  • Ensure code quality, scalability, and security through best practices, including code reviews, testing, and documentation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including front-end developers, product managers, and designers, to define and deliver project requirements.
  • Manage project timelines, deliverables, and resources to ensure successful delivery.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in a timely manner.
  • Identify opportunities to optimize existing systems and processes.
  • Lead initiatives to improve development workflows, tools, and methodologies.
  • Contribute to the codebase as time allows (20% to 40%) of your time.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities to manage team dynamics and collaborate with stakeholders.
  • Proven experience as a front-end developer, with at least 4 years in a developer role and 2 years in a management role.
  • Demonstrated success in collaborating with small to medium-sized engineering teams to maximize their performance and productivity.
  • Expertise in modern front-end frameworks and libraries (particularly React on the Next.js framework).
  • Strong proficiency in TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS3.
  • Experience with state management libraries (e.g., Redux, MobX, or Vuex).
  • Familiarity with modern front-end build tools (e.g., Webpack, Vite, or Parcel) and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Deep understanding of responsive design, accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG), and cross-browser compatibility.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Rewards

  • Attractive salary package commensurate with experience and skill level.
  • Comprehensive healthcare coverage and other benefits.
  • Stock options that offer a stake in our success.
  • Modern office located in the vibrant city of Austin, Texas.
  • Annual stipends for hotel stays and travel, allowing you to experience our partner offerings firsthand.

Location Requirement: Candidates must be based in or willing to relocate to Austin, TX. Way operates on a fully in-office model, requiring team members to collaborate onsite five days a week to meet ambitious goals and sustain our rapid growth.
