Together with your colleagues, you develop a central design system which enables all UX designers and engineers to rapidly and easily realize high-quality (accessible) user experiences to 5 million customers.
What you are going to do
You’ll work on a complex range libraries which serve multiple platforms, frameworks, languages, countries, and potentially brands. You ensure that the our packages consumed by fellow engineers, follow semver and have been through unit- and integration testing. You know all in-and-outs of our Design System and exactly what our engineers within NN need. You ensure we have the right components, guidelines, documentation and processes in place for developing native apps as well as modern sites, portals and applications for the web. You enjoy helping your fellow (designers and) engineers and enable them to create coherent user experiences. With your devotion to quality you set the standard and inspire others to do the same.
- You develop, iterate and maintain unified component libraries and documentation for both (native) mobile apps as well as (responsive) web in which you incorporate standards w.r.t. accessibility and code quality
- You pro-actively contribute to the strategic approach to the design system based on your expertise to ensure we are future-proof
- You are an ambassador and guide towards the various teams for using (and contributing to) the design system

Who you are
As an experienced software engineer, you enjoy working with other engineers as well as UX designers. You are a good listener and keep track of developments within your field. You’ve developed yourself beyond just writing application code and concern yourself with improving things like our pipelines and build tools. As a self-starter you find all the necessary information to get things done. You:
- Have at least 5 years of experience with TypeScript and CSS, and thus know your way around different frameworks such as React (Native) and Vue, specificity is no surprise to you
- Read documentation and source code of 3rd-party software
- Troubleshoot combinations of tooling and backtrack your steps to narrow down possible root causes
- Find ways to automate and control quality using tooling by tweaking CI/CD pipelines
- Like the challenge to find intuitive naming for public API’s
Who you will work with
TLDR: you’ll land in a small, fun team of driven people that build products with high impact. You’ll take place in the Design System team which is fully focused on enabling designers and engineers w.r.t. creating coherent user experiences in line with our brand. This team has a clear vision and aspirations for the future. In this agile team, you’ll work closely together with the Product Owner, Scrum Master, Tech Lead and UX designers. Together, we create the single source of truth: our design system which addresses the current as well as evolving needs for both the mobile app and our websites, portals and applications on the web. Outside the team you step into the role of ambassador for the design system by maintaining relationships with your colleagues in engineering throughout the organisation.
