Front-end Developer

Intelic builds the software that makes uncrewed systems work in contested environments. Our platform, Nexus, is a Command and Control (C2) system for heterogeneous drone fleets operating where communications are unstable and GPS is unreliable. We are looking for a Front-end Developer to help scale Nexus, our map-based user interface. This is a specialized role focused on high-stakes information density. Our primary challenge is creating a seamless experience for operators who are actively controlling drone fleets and must make split-second decisions based on live telemetry from multiple flying assets.

We need an engineer who can move beyond the "website builder" mindset to ensure our application stays fluid and responsive while interacting with physical hardware. You will be responsible for ensuring that our UI translates complex, real-time drone data into a reliable tool that prevents cognitive overload, ensuring the interface remains snappy even as the system handles constant data updates from the field.

• The Interface Experience: You own the fluid and responsive feel of our 2.5D map-based UI and the broader Nexus platform. You ensure that as we add complex automation features and data streams, the interface remains non-blocking and intuitive.

• System Logic and State: You are responsible for the front-end implementation of mission-critical logic. You ensure the UI accurately reflects hardware capabilities and constraints in real-time, managing complex states that dictate what an operator can do and when.

• Component Evolution: You collaborate with our design team to build and maintain our internal design system. You ensure a high standard of UI consistency and reusability across our different product modules.

• Frontend Resilience and Quality: You are responsible for the stability of our UI. You establish the testing patterns and mock environments that ensure our frontend is as mission-critical as our robotics code.

We are looking for a developer who takes pride in the reliability and "feel" of their code. You want to move beyond building simple web apps and are ready to tackle data-rich UI challenges.

• 3+ years of experience building complex frontend applications (e.g., dashboards, interactive maps, or data-rich visualization tools).

• Modern Framework Proficiency: We use Svelte for its efficiency, but we value deep experience in any modern framework

• Real-time Data: You’ve worked with backend services and know how to keep a UI smooth while handling constant updates.

• Reliable Delivery: Practical experience with frontend testing tools (e.g., Playwright, Vitest, or Jest) and an understanding of how code translates into production environments.

• Smooth UX Focus: You know how to build interfaces that feel light and responsive, even when there is a lot of data on the screen.

• Product Awareness: You care about the why behind a feature. You enjoy the challenge of making complex data intuitive and are comfortable giving input on the roadmap.

• Collaborative Mindset: You enjoy working in a multi-disciplinary engineering environment and understand the build, bundling, and runtime considerations of a multi-language codebase.

• Technical Peculiarities: We do not focus on SEO or public web accessibility (WCAG); our complexity lies in 2.5D visualization, real-time state management, and maintaining a non-blocking UI.
