About the Role

We are seeking a reliable, personable Front Desk Receptionist to serve as the first point of contact for patients at our Mesick clinic. This role is essential to a smooth, welcoming patient experience and the efficient day-to-day operation of the clinic. Candidates with an interest in clinical support skills, prior medical assistant skills, or a general healthcare interest are a great fit for our team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and visitors warmly; manage check-in and check-out processes

  • Schedule, confirm, and reschedule patient appointments

  • Answer phones, respond to patient inquiries, and route calls/messages appropriately

  • Verify patient demographic and insurance information; collect co-pays as applicable

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming front office/waiting area

  • Coordinate with the clinical team to support patient flow and minimize wait times

  • Scan, file, and maintain accurate records in the electronic medical record (EMR) system

  • Support referral coordination and follow-up communications as needed

  • Assist with basic administrative tasks (mail, supply ordering, correspondence)

  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA and clinic policies at all times

  • Must be able to safely perform the essential functions of the position, including prolonged sitting/standing and occasional light lifting, with or without reasonable accommodation

Qualifications

  • Prior experience as a front desk receptionist in a healthcare administrative role preferred

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills

  • Comfortable with EMR systems and basic office software

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, resource-constrained environment

  • Comfortable working in a rural healthcare setting with a high degree of autonomy
