About the Role
We are seeking a reliable, personable Front Desk Receptionist to serve as the first point of contact for patients at our Mesick clinic. This role is essential to a smooth, welcoming patient experience and the efficient day-to-day operation of the clinic. Candidates with an interest in clinical support skills, prior medical assistant skills, or a general healthcare interest are a great fit for our team.
Key Responsibilities
Greet patients and visitors warmly; manage check-in and check-out processes
Schedule, confirm, and reschedule patient appointments
Answer phones, respond to patient inquiries, and route calls/messages appropriately
Verify patient demographic and insurance information; collect co-pays as applicable
Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming front office/waiting area
Coordinate with the clinical team to support patient flow and minimize wait times
Scan, file, and maintain accurate records in the electronic medical record (EMR) system
Support referral coordination and follow-up communications as needed
Assist with basic administrative tasks (mail, supply ordering, correspondence)
Ensure compliance with HIPAA and clinic policies at all times
Must be able to safely perform the essential functions of the position, including prolonged sitting/standing and occasional light lifting, with or without reasonable accommodation
Qualifications
Prior experience as a front desk receptionist in a healthcare administrative role preferred
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
Comfortable with EMR systems and basic office software
Ability to work in a fast-paced, resource-constrained environment
Comfortable working in a rural healthcare setting with a high degree of autonomy
