Description
I. BASIC FUNCTION: Acts as a member of the Operations Team in the role of Front Desk Associate. II. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Greets incoming patients and visitors utilizing excellent customer service skills by following FCHC’s front desk associate standard operating procedure (SOP). 2. Ensures all necessary consent forms are completed by patients annually. 3. Obtains financial documentation from each patient/family unit in order to acquire information necessary for the Center’s Sliding Fee Scale Program. Obtains insurance information and verifies coverage prior to patient appointments. 4. Utilizes the telephone and paging system to help patients receive services as necessary. 5. Creates and updates patients’ electronic health record (EHR). This includes scanning the registration forms which are reviewed for completion and placed into the appropriate categories in the electronic health record. 6. Updates patient record for changes in any demographic information. Makes appropriate changes in the (EHR). 7. Connects patients to the appropriate resource to handle or answer patients’ inquiries regarding sliding fee schedule, insurance, collections, etc. 8. Assists patients in participating in special programs by giving out applications and assisting patients in the completion of applications. 9. Collects payments of fees for current or previous visits. Provides receipts of payments to patients. 10. Promotes activities such as patient portal enrollment to improve clinic engagement. 11. Submits money collected and payment journal at the end of the day. 12. Secures money drawers at all times. 13. Maintains patient confidentiality and comply with HIPPA regulations. 14. Skills Required
- Excellent customer service and front-desk communication skills
- Experience using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and scanning documents into patient records
- Knowledge of insurance verification and patient eligibility processes
- Ability to obtain financial documentation and administer sliding fee scale procedures
- Cash handling, receipt issuance, end-of-day payment journal submission, and secure money drawer practices
- Familiarity with telephone and paging systems for patient communication
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations
- Assist patients with applications and patient portal enrollment
