Junior Media Manager
The Task include but are not limited to:
• Drafting and sending of a bi-monthly regional Press Newsletter
• Acquisition of new subscribers for the newsletter/Management of press databases
• Writing and sending of press releases, as specified below, tailored to regional
aspects and events, such as project visits, visits of Commissioners and events
Proposing editorial concepts based on gathering and analysing
relevant materials
• Assistance in responding to press enquiries
• Media monitoring and monitoring regional policy developments with EU and
regional relevance: brief written summaries of the press situation
• Rewriting and adapting content for specific target audiences (online and offline).
Skills needed include: Writing and editing suitable content for social media
Adaptability and flexibility. Strong written and spoken communication skills
MEDIA EDITING AND COPYWRITING:
• Content creation and video and image creation and editing, monitoring
• Identification of opportunities for collaboration with Content Creators
• Participation in the weekly Social Media planning meeting of the Representation
of the European Commission in Germany and if necessary, advice on
communication opportunities
• Support to increased digital presence of the Regional Representation on social
media channels of the Representation of the European Commission in Germany, with relevant regional content
WORKSHOPS AND PRESS TRIPS
• Manages and prepares Events, Workshops and Capacity-building
• Organisational tasks and Media training, media trips and press visits:
− Support in logistics and workshops will require the help of an event
manager/organiser
− Assistance in organizing workshops for media in the Länder NRW,
Hessen, Rheinland-Pfalz, Saarland: selection of participants, booking
of venues and catering.
− Assistance in creating communication products for workshops and
press events, such as background material, e.g. powerpoint
presentations.
− Assistance in organizing background talks in the four respective
Länder NRW, Hessen, Rheinland-Pfalz, Saarland
− Assistance in the organization of press trips to EU-funded projects:
create and update lists of EU-funded projects and possible
communication opportunities, organize press events at EU-funded
projects including acquisition of participants, press release, organizing
logistics and catering, preparation of press kits and information,
monitoring
− Organization of press events and meetings of Members of the European
Commission in the region
Languages:
• Working and document language is German, level C1, preferably C2.
• English at least level C1.
