Purpose

Divergent is looking for a highly motivated FP&A professional to join the Finance team. This role will be crucial in adding rigor to decision making to ensure the company remains financially healthy as we scale. You will play a pivotal role in developing the company’s budgeting, financial reporting, and business reporting processes. This role reports to the Senior Director, Corporate Finance and will have high exposure to the CFO and leaders across the company. The ideal candidate should be equally comfortable designing scalable FP&A processes and rolling up their sleeves to build analyses and support day-to-day operations.

The Role
  • Support the development of annual and quarterly budgets and financial plans 
  • Serve as the primary finance partner to one of the company’s major operating pillars, translating operation plans into budgets, providing financial performance insights, and ensuring accountability at the functional level 
  • Build ad hoc analyses and repeatable frameworks that enable leaders across the company to make better, faster decisions 
  • Design and implement clear budget vs actual reporting packages and cadences 
  • Support monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc reporting for management and investors 
  • Partner across FP&A and Accounting to enhance month-end close processes 
  • Proactively drive process improvements and optimization that promote maturity across all facets of our financial operations 
Basic Qualifications
  • Ability to lawfully access information and technology that is subject to US export controls
  • 5+ years in prior fast-paced, analytical roles (FP&A, corporate finance, investment banking, management consulting)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or related quantitative field
  • Elite financial modeling skills
  • Proven experience in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis at project and departmental levels
  • Exceptional communication skills and ability to convey financial insights to executives and non-technical audiences
  • Familiarity working across cross-functional teams to translate operational data into financial impact
  • High attention to detail, strong ownership mindset, and comfort operating in an environment where processes are still being built. 
  • Familiarity with ERPs and financial planning tools such as Oracle and Datarails, or similar systems 
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience analyzing complete, multi-stage manufacturing process or another capital-intensive and operationally complex business 
  • Familiarity with the Aerospace & Defense GTM cycle, including program-based pricing, contracting structures, and the stakeholder landscape

  • This role is based in our Torrance, CA headquarters. 
Compensation

At Divergent, our pay range is based on the level of the job. For this role, we will consider candidates at levels S05- S06 as evaluated through our interview process. 

  • Senior FP&A Associate: $109,240- $150,000
  • Lead FP&A: $126,160 - $173,470

Skills Required

  • 7-10+ years of progressive finance experience, with at least 3 years in product development or program finance within manufacturing
  • Strong understanding of product development lifecycles and alignment of financial metrics to engineering and program milestones

  • Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills, including scenario planning and sensitivity analysis
  • Exceptional communication skills to present complex financial data to non-financial stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally and influence at all organizational levels
  • CPA, CMA, MBA, or equivalent professional qualification
  • Experience in automotive, aerospace, or other high-complexity, low-volume manufacturing industries
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and program management tools
  • Knowledge of capital investment processes, cost breakdown structures (CBS), and bill of materials (BOM) costing
  • Experience in portfolio planning and business model optimization
  • Track record of driving financial discipline in early-stage or fast-growth companies
