The Impact of an FP&A Director, Marketing at Coupa:

Coupa is seeking a highly strategic and analytical Director of FP&A to lead financial planning and analysis for our global Marketing organization. Reporting directly to the VP of GTM Finance, this critical role will partner closely with the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) and their leadership team to provide insightful financial guidance, drive strategic decision-making, and optimize marketing performance.
You'll thrive in this fast-paced environment, delivering high-quality, precise financial analysis under tight deadlines. This role requires a professional who can not only manage complex ad-hoc analyses but also effectively communicate insights to executive leadership and private equity sponsors.

What You'll Do:

  • Strategic Business Partnering: Serve as the primary financial partner to the CMO and the Marketing leadership team, providing strategic insights and recommendations to support business growth and achieve financial targets.
  • Financial Planning & Analysis: Lead the annual budgeting, long-range planning, and monthly forecasting processes for the global Marketing organization.
  • Performance Reporting & Analysis: Develop and maintain robust financial models and reporting to track key marketing metrics, including pipeline generation, spend efficiency, Customer Acquisition Cost (CAC), and Return on Marketing Investment (ROMI).
  • Ad-Hoc Analysis: Conduct complex ad-hoc financial analyses to support strategic initiatives, evaluate new programs, and inform critical business decisions.
  • Executive & Board Reporting: Prepare high-quality presentations and financial summaries for executive leadership, the Board of Directors, and private equity sponsors, ensuring clarity, precision, and adherence to tight deadlines.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and implement opportunities to improve financial processes, systems, and reporting capabilities to enhance efficiency and accuracy within the Marketing finance function.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with other FP&A teams, Accounting, Sales, and other departments to ensure alignment and consistency in financial reporting and analysis.

What You Will Bring to Coupa:

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in FP&A, with a portion dedicated to supporting marketing organizations in a fast-paced, high-growth technology company.
  • Proven track record of strategic business partnering with executive-level stakeholders.
  • Expert-level financial modeling and analytical skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
  • Experience working with private equity sponsors or in a highly acquisitive environment is a strong plus.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex financial concepts clearly and concisely to both financial and non-financial audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and deliver high-quality work with precision under tight deadlines.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with the financial planning software Anaplan is preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; MBA is a plus.
