- National Laboratories & Science (NLS): Delivering a range of expert science functions and services in partnership with the UK Government, business, healthcare, and academia, based in Guildford and Twickenham – UK.
Reporting directly to the Head of Finance for Assure & NLS, this role offers variety and significant scope for personal and professional development. The successful candidate will work closely with Group and the Business Unit finance team, supporting monthly performance reporting and analysis, the budgeting and forecasting process and ad-hoc projects.
The ideal applicant will be someone who thrives on working in a hands-on, fast paced, dynamic working environment. Someone who is confident with data analytics and systems, has good attention to detail and enjoys finding pragmatic solutions, process efficiencies and new insights which can add value to an organisation.
Key responsibilities:
- Support the Group FP&A monthly reporting processes. to ensure delivery of accurate and insightful reporting to the Assure & NLS SLT and other senior stakeholders in a timely, efficient and effective manner
- Drive improvement of the Assure & NLS data analytics, reporting solutions, financial models and processes that support strategic planning, budgeting, forecasting and performance management
- Drive new/enhanced performance analytics and reporting dashboards, using systems such as Tableau, to enrich business insight – trends, product/sector breakdown, regional/customer breakdown, etc
- Ensure data integrity & control of Assure & NLS master data sources
- Provide ad-hoc project support to priority LGC wide initiatives (eg M&A, restructuring, margin improvement projects)
- Qualified accountant (CIMA/CFA/ACA/ACCA)
- Personable, with a strong commitment to team outcomes
- Possessing strong reporting and analytical skills
- Confident in advanced MS Excel techniques
- A self starter, quick to get up to speed, able to evidence strong problem solving skills
- Able to operate effectively in a dynamic, fast moving and demanding environment
- Excellent written communication and presentation skills
- Experience of working with data analytics tools such as Tableau
