Lead FP&A Analyst-Business Decision Support
Location: Columbus, OH office (Hybrid – 3 days/week in office)
This role is ideal for a finance professional with a strong command of how the financial statements work together and the ability to create, interpret, and communicate high-level cash flow analyses to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
The successful candidate will be self-directed, flexible, and comfortable creating structure in a dynamic environment with evolving priorities.
The business case process requires strong collaboration, disciplined execution, and thoughtful engagement with stakeholders across Operations, Regulatory, Accounting, Tax, Treasury, Planning, and other business partners.
Job Summary
The Lead FP&A Analyst – Business Decision Support plays a critical role in helping leadership evaluate capital investments, strategic initiatives, and regulatory outcomes through actionable financial analysis. This role will translate complex financial, regulatory, and operational inputs into clear recommendations that support governance decisions, executive discussions, and long-term planning. This role will be critical in driving value-add analysis that supports leadership decision making.
Primary Responsibilities include:
Leading the business case process and conducting financial analysis to support capital investment decisions.
Building, maintaining, and improving financial and regulatory models that evaluate project economics and enterprise impacts.
Evaluating EPS, cash flow, credit, customer bill, regulatory, and other financial statement impacts of proposed investments and decisions.
Coordinating inputs from Operations, Regulatory, Accounting, Tax, Treasury, Planning, and other stakeholders to develop complete and supportable analyses.
Preparing executive-level materials and recommendations for governance and leadership review.
Supporting the strategic financial planning team in preparation of the NiSource strategic plan, rate case outcome modeling, and capital target setting.
Required Qualifications For Position:
Requires four-year degree in business discipline
4-6 years or more experience in finance, accounting, regulatory or a related field
Requires multiple functional experience
Advanced proficiency, must be very strong in Microsoft suite – Excel and PowerPoint; experience with financial modeling, analysis, and executive-level presentation materials.
Regulatory Finance Acumen - Understands how NiSource earns returns and how changes to financial statements flow through to customer bills, regulatory outcomes, and NiSource financial metrics.
Building Partnerships - Developing and leveraging relationships within and across work groups to achieve results.
Decision Support - Recommends the most effective course of action after evaluating options against decision criteria.
Influencing - Gain others' commitment to take action that will enhance value for business partners and/or customers.
Continuous Improvement - Originating action to improve existing conditions and processes; identifying improvement opportunities, generating ideas, and implementing solutions.
Preferred Qualifications for Position:
Experience in regulated utility finance, regulatory accounting, rate case analysis, or capital recovery mechanisms.
Experience building business cases, capital investment models, or long-range financial planning analyses.
Experience developing executive-level materials that summarize complex financial analysis into clear recommendations.
Project management experience, including coordinating inputs across multiple stakeholders and functions.
CPA, MBA, or other relevant advanced finance/accounting credential preferred.

Salary Range*:
$96,600.00 - $144,900.00*The salary offered to a candidate is based on several factors including but not limited to the candidate’s skills, job-related knowledge, and relevant experience, as well as internal pay equity.
