Key Responsibilities
Execute engine room watches safely and efficiently, perform maintenance tasks as assigned, update the Planned Maintenance System (PMS), and manage inventory of spares under the guidance of the Chief Engineer.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
The Fourth Engineer must be familiar with company policies, SOLAS, MARPOL, and flag state regulations. Key knowledge areas include marine engineering systems, emergency procedures, risk assessment, and troubleshooting techniques. Essential skills include proficiency in watchkeeping, clear communication, proactive maintenance management, and adaptability to modern technology.
Experience: Demonstrates reliability as an effective engine room team member, with a strong record in watchkeeping and equipment maintenance. Shows a clear understanding of environmental compliance requirements and exhibits adaptability and quick response during technical issues and emergencies.
