Founding Product Engineer
Jampack AI · Full-time · New York City (In-office) · Reports to CEO & CTO
About Jampack
Jampack builds AI agents that run wholesale operations, replacing spreadsheets, email chains, and manual data entry with automated workflows. We power brands like Fishwife, immi, and PATH, handling everything from purchase orders and freight coordination to invoicing and payment reconciliation.
We’ve raised a $3.2M seed round led by Maveron, Timber Grove Ventures, and industry operators. We’re a small team working closely with customers to build the AI-native operating system for wholesale.
The Role
We’re hiring our first dedicated design hire: a founding product engineer with impeccable taste who will own how the product looks, feels, and works.
You might be an engineer who designs or a designer who codes. Either way, you can take an idea, figure out how it should work, and build a polished interface that customers use.
Our customers run wholesale operations. They’re managing orders, coordinating shipments, and keeping their businesses moving. We want to make complex, consequential work feel calm, fast, and intuitive.
You’ll primarily create new product experiences from scratch. You own the experience, design, and frontend implementation, partnering with engineers on the backend. A central part of the job is discovering how people should interact with AI agents that do real work on their behalf.
What You’ll Do
- Own experiences from first sketch to production. Work through user flows, explore designs, build prototypes, ship the frontend, and watch customers use it.
- Make complex workflows feel simple. Turn dense information and operational detail into clear interfaces that help people understand what matters and what to do next.
- Discover how people should work with agents. Explore and test interaction patterns that make the product understandable, useful, and easy to trust.
- Build the foundations for consistent craft. Create reusable components and patterns that help the whole team ship better interfaces faster.
- Work directly with customers. Learn how operators think, test prototypes with them, and use their feedback to improve what you ship.
What We’re Looking For
- 4+ years of experience designing and building products at fast-growing startups. You can show us work you personally took from idea to production, how you adapted to changing priorities, and how you balanced shipping quickly with a high bar for craft.
- Exceptional UI/UX taste. You have a point of view on what good looks and feels like, and you can explain the decisions behind your work.
- The ability to design and build. You have strong frontend fundamentals and can independently ship production interfaces.
- Thoughtful systems thinking. You recognize when a component or interaction pattern can make several parts of the product better.
- Initiative and follow-through. You can take an incomplete idea, ask useful questions, share work early, and carry it through to a working product.
- Curiosity about AI experiences. You’re excited to explore what software can become when agents can take action for the user.
Have fewer than four years of experience? We also welcome exceptional early-career candidates whose work demonstrates strong taste and an ability to ship. Personal projects, experiments, and professional work all count.
Why Jampack
- Shape the product from the beginning. As our first dedicated design hire, you’ll establish the patterns and level of craft the team builds on.
- Work on an open design problem. How people work alongside AI agents is still being figured out. You’ll help discover what works.
- Build for real customers moving the real economy. You’ll have direct access to the operators using your work and see how your decisions affect their day-to-day operations.
- Work closely with the founders. You’ll partner directly with the CEO and CTO, with engineering support to bring your ideas into production.
Show Us Your Work
Share whatever best demonstrates your taste and ability to ship: a live product, side project, prototype, portfolio, or something else you’ve made. Tell us what you personally designed and built, and one decision you’re proud of.
Compensation
$160,000–$220,000 base salary + meaningful equity
