⭐ About the Role

We’re looking for a Founding Insurance Operations Lead to build and scale Sailor’s insurance infrastructure. You will own the systems, processes, and partnerships that ensure seniors can seamlessly access care through Medicare and Medicare Advantage.

This role is both strategic and operational: you’ll architect Sailor’s revenue cycle, lead payer contracting and provider credentialing, and build the foundation for a world-class insurance operations team. You’ll collaborate closely with our co-founders, product, and engineering to translate payer workflows into scalable, automated systems.

💻 Your Key Responsibilities

• Lead Sailor’s insurance operations: Build and scale end-to-end RCM workflows including eligibility, claims submission, denial management, payment posting, and reconciliation.
• Drive Medicare Advantage strategy: Establish Sailor as a trusted MA partner by negotiating, contracting, and managing relationships with leading plans.
• Oversee provider credentialing: Design and manage credentialing workflows to ensure clinicians are in-network and ready to deliver care quickly.
• Scale systems and processes: Partner with product and engineering to build automated workflows, dashboards, and integrations into our EHR and clearinghouses.
• Build and lead the team: Recruit, mentor, and manage Sailor’s insurance operations function, setting a culture of speed, precision, and integrity.
• Strategic planning & execution: Own KPIs, reporting, and quarterly goals for insurance operations. Surface insights to leadership to guide Sailor’s growth and payer strategy.

• Champion compliance: Ensure Sailor’s operations meet Medicare requirements, building systems designed to withstand audits.

   

✅ Ideal Qualifications & Skills

• Extensive experience in insurance operations, revenue cycle management, or payer contracting (ideally in a startup or high-growth healthtech environment).
• Proven track record scaling insurance or RCM functions, with deep knowledge of workflows, regulations, and payer dynamics.
• Ability to negotiate and manage Medicare Advantage contracts and overseeing provider credentialing.
• Strong operator with systems and data mindset: comfortable building dashboards, KPIs, and automation.
• Excited to be a founding leader at a fast-moving startup; thrives in ambiguity and builds from zero-to-one.
