Founding Engineer (m/f/d)

Project A backs early-stage companies in Europe in the digital technology space. As part of our Studio and pre-seed investments, we are always looking for exceptional Founding Engineers to join new ventures at the earliest stages. We are particularly looking for companies in the deep dive areas of FinTech, Global Supply Chains, Climate & Energy, Agentic AI, and European Resilience.

As a Founding Engineer (m/f/d), you will play a pivotal role in shaping the technology and product of a high-potential startup from day one. This is not a traditional engineering role—beyond writing code, you'll collaborate closely with founders to define the technical vision, build the first version of the product, and make critical decisions that will set the foundation for scalable growth.

• Take ownership of the technical direction, architecture, and initial product build
• Work hands-on to develop and ship early-stage MVPs and iterate rapidly based on user feedback
• Collaborate with founders and early team members to define the company’s roadmap
• Make strategic decisions on tooling, infrastructure, and engineering best practices
• Hire and grow the engineering team as the company scales

• Strong technical skills and the ability to build and ship products from scratch
• Experience with full-stack development or a strong backend/frontend specialization
• Entrepreneurial mindset—you thrive in ambiguity and are excited to build something from the ground up
• Interest in solving real-world problems with technology, regardless of the specific tech stack
• Prior startup experience, side projects, or a strong desire to work in a fast-moving, high-impact environment
