Founding Drone Engineer

SE3 Labs is building Spatial AI by combining 3D computer vision with large language models to give drones the ability to understand and act in the physical world.

This capability unlocks the next generation of autonomous flight, transforming how drones operate across construction, infrastructure inspection, and defense.

Now we are bringing Spatial AI into the sky through high-performance UAVs that can perceive, decide, and fly on their own.

We are looking for a Drone Engineer who is ready to push flight systems, autonomy, and AI integration to new heights.

We’re a small team of builders with deep roots in computer vision, robotics, and autonomy. Our founders have worked with Elon Musk at Tesla, and led engineering at Nvidia, Bosch, and Artisense.

Daniel, our co-founder, serves as President of the European Computer Vision Association. We move fast, stay close to the hardware, and build tech that pushes the edge of what’s possible in the physical world.

• You’ll own everything that flies, from low-level control loops to high-level AI integration.

• Work alongside Lukas (CEO) and Simon (CTO) to make our drones not just stable, but intelligent.

• You’ll prototype fast, tune PIDs at midnight, and ship systems that bring Spatial AI into the sky.

• Build and optimize real-time flight control and autonomy systems.

• Integrate our AI stack with ArduPilot, and on-board compute.

• Fuse data from cameras, IMUs, and GPS for spatial awareness.

• Push the limits of control theory and sensor fusion in real environments.

• Strong background in mechatronics, robotics, or electrical/mechanical engineering.

• Experience with ArduPilot, PX4, MAVLink, MAVROS or similar frameworks

• Deep understanding of flight dynamics, control theory, and embedded systems.

• Familiarity with drone hardware, embedded electronics/sensors, and radio communication technology.

• Curiosity, grit, and an instinct for building things that are technically challenging and high-impact.

• You’ll be one of the first engineers on a mission to make AI see, think, and move.

1. Intro Call (virtual, 20 to 30 minutes): A quick conversation to get to know each other. We’ll discuss your background, motivations, and why SE3 Labs excites you, and share more about our mission, role, and team.

2. Technical Interview (~30 minutes): meet one of the co-founders + talk about the role in technical depth, etc.

3. Coding Interview (~60 minutes, flexible): We’ll explore your technical background. You’ll get details after the intro call so you can prepare confidently.

4. Dinner/Lunch (in person): Finally, we’d love to meet you in person, to share how we work, what drives us, and how you’d fit into SE3’s journey.
