Summary Generated by Built In

SynX Therapeutics discovers next-generation medicines with non-natural biology. We engineer biology, run high-throughput experiments, and integrate AI to build an ultra-rapid lab-in-the-loop platform for drug discovery. Our SynPeps™ combine the targeting precision of biologics with PK/delivery properties closer to small molecules, unlocking therapeutic opportunities that antibodies and small molecules cannot reach. We've raised $3.2M from leading technology entrepreneurs, VCs, and through government grants.

The role

We are hiring a Founder's Associate to work directly with the founders on whatever matters most: hiring, special projects, operations and fundraising. You will own outcomes end-to-end, solve unfamiliar problems, get things done, and help us communicate credibly with collaborators, funders and future teammates. You sit inside a deeply technical organisation, the problems we work on are hard, and we expect you to engage with the science.

What you will do

Your work will shift with company priorities across four areas:

  • Hiring. Enable us to scale rapidly: run hiring rounds end-to-end with the founders, and build the pipeline and process behind them.

  • Special projects. Take projects from problem definition to plan, then decision, then own delivery: budget, milestones, and coordinating any external stakeholders.

  • Operations. Drive finance, procurement, legal and HR processes in a growing team.

  • Communications. Build investor and partner materials, draft grant proposals, and shape our public presence.

What you bring
  • Excellence as a default. You hold a high bar on output. You work with accuracy, notice small discrepancies, but also know when a piece of work is finished.

  • High agency. You identify what needs doing and drive it to completion with limited oversight, across several unrelated workstreams at once. You have owned a project with budget and delivery timelines, without an established process to inherit – in work, research, or something you’ve started.

  • Intellectual rigour. You reason from first principles and pressure-test your own conclusions.

  • Judgement and discretion. You know which calls to make and which to escalate, and can be trusted with sensitive commercial and internal matters.

  • Exceptional communication. You write documents and build presentations that need no editing, and you value direct, truth-seeking dialogue.

  • AI fluency with independent judgement. You are AI-native, accelerate analysis and build operational workflows, and you know when it goes wrong.

  • Life science literacy. You’ve got a strong academic record, thrive in a deeply technical environment and can work with complex life science topics.

What sets you apart

The following are not strict requirements but nice-to-haves.

  • Independent technical work, such as doctoral training or comparable research in academia or industry, giving you credibility with scientists and funders.

  • A demanding, fast-paced environment where rigour and delivery were both expected: consulting, investment, early-stage biotech, or another rapidly scaling organisation.

  • A track record of building something from scratch: a function, a facility, or an operating process you defined yourself.

  • Hiring across the full round, or procurement and vendor negotiation at six-figure scale.

What we offer
  • Real ownership from day one, across challenges that are complex and varied.

  • Direct exposure to the founders and to every function of a company being built, with real impact on its trajectory.

  • A small, non-hierarchical team of mission-driven scientists and operators, in a strong position to unlock ultra-rapid drug discovery with non-natural biology.

  • Work in a lab and office space embedded in central London’s biotech ecosystem.

  • Competitive salary and equity commensurate with your experience.

How to apply

Upload your CV and provide answers to all application prompts. Use LLMs thoughtfully where you consider them useful. We care about the quality of the thinking and your judgment; generic answers are easy to spot and will be disregarded.

We encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet every single requirement – your unique skills and experiences might be just what we’re looking for. We are an equal opportunity employer and welcome applications from all individuals, regardless of age, gender, disability, ethnicity, or any other protected characteristic.

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. We'll review the first batch on Thursday, September 3, 2026.

Notice to recruitment agencies: SynX Therapeutics does not accept unsolicited CVs from third parties. Submissions without a written agreement create no contract or fee obligation. Any candidate sourced this way will be considered a free referral, and SynX Therapeutics may use the information at its discretion.
