The Opportunity
As part of this transformation, we are seeking a Data Engineer to help shape and enhance our data platform. This role involves leading initiatives, driving automation, and innovating across our data infrastructure and workflows. Over time, there is potential to grow into a team leadership position.
Key Responsibilities
Platform Design & Development
- Design and evolve core data infrastructure to support global delivery.
- Advocate for code-first development practices, ensuring scalable, testable, and maintainable solutions.
- Innovate in big data environments, including Databricks, Palantir Foundry, and distributed systems.
Automation & Optimization
- Develop and automate ETL pipelines, data workflows, and monitoring systems.
- Optimize performance and reliability of large-scale data systems with proactive observability.
Monitoring & Reliability
- Leverage monitoring tools such as Datadog to maintain transparency and rapid issue resolution.
- Ensure platform stability and scalability, taking accountability for delivery outcomes.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship, influencing cross-functional teams.
- Collaborate effectively with SRE, Infrastructure, and Data teams to achieve strategic goals.
- Solve complex challenges proactively, implementing resilient solutions.
Who You Are
- Experienced in Python and SQL with hands-on engineering expertise.
- Skilled in profiling and optimizing ETL systems and large-scale data pipelines.
- Familiar with IT infrastructure, working experience in datacentre or any cloud platform (AWS, Azure, etc.) will be a plus.
- Comfortable working with distributed systems / big data projects (SMB clusters, Palantir Foundry, Databricks, etc. are a plus).
- Familiar with monitoring and observability tools (Datadog or similar).
- Strong problem-solver with the ability to dive deep into complex technical issues.
- Background in financial services or other data-intensive domains is advantageous. Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
