About the RoleForward Deployed Engineering owns how Unit21 customers go from signed contract to a live, tuned fraud and AML program—and stays with them to keep it working.
As a Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE), you'll serve as the technical lead throughout implementation. You'll integrate customer data into the platform, build detection strategies, configure Case Management, and deploy our AI agents. After go-live, you'll continue partnering with customers through ongoing support, tuning, and enablement.
Our FDE team grew out of Implementation, Solutions Engineering, Customer Success Engineering, and Solutions Architecture. This is an implementation and post-implementation role—not a sales role.
- Lead customer implementations end-to-end, including technical discovery, integration design, build, and go-live across Transaction Monitoring, Case Management, and AI agents.
- Design and build customer data integrations using real-time APIs and batch ingestion, including data mapping and ETL workflows while navigating messy real-world data.
- Build and tune fraud and AML detection by translating customer requirements into rules and typologies that identify the patterns they care about.
- Configure Case Management and investigation workflows, including SAR/CTR filing and watchlist/sanctions screening.
- Deploy our AI agents and roll them out progressively with a human-in-the-loop approach.
- Own post-implementation success through ongoing tuning, issue resolution, metrics, and customer enablement.
- Develop scripts, automations, reusable tooling, and templates that improve customer implementations.
- Partner closely with Product and Engineering by bringing field insights directly into product improvements.
- Experience in Implementation, Forward Deployed Engineering, Solutions Engineering, or Solutions Architecture—ideally within a technical SaaS or data platform.
- Strong understanding of REST APIs, ETL/data pipelines, SQL, and relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL).
- Comfortable mapping, transforming, and reconciling imperfect customer data.
- Ability to write code in Python or JavaScript/TypeScript for scripting, integrations, and automation.
- Experience translating ambiguous business and compliance requirements into practical technical solutions.
- Ability to own complex technical problems from beginning to end while adapting to changing priorities.
- Strong customer presence with the ability to communicate effectively with both engineers and executive stakeholders.
- Experience working with financial institutions, fintechs, or crypto platforms.
- Domain knowledge of financial crime, AML, fraud (BSA/KYC, SAR/CTR, sanctions, fraud typologies).
- Previous experience leading implementations for complex, data-intensive products.
- Exposure to LLMs or AI agent workflows.
