ABOUT THE POSITION

We are seeking a Forward-Deployed Software Engineer to join our AI for Engineering team at Virtuos. You will build, customize, and integrate AI-powered developer tools, turning emerging technologies into reliable solutions for our engineering teams. Working closely with developers and platform teams, you will take tools from evaluation through deployment, resolve user-reported issues, and improve the developer experience. You will also develop AI agents and workflows for our internal AI portal, ensuring these solutions meet enterprise requirements for security, reliability, and usability.

• Evaluate open-source AI coding assistants and developer tools for production of readiness, security, and compliance with enterprise requirements.

• Conduct static code analysis using SonarQube and inspect network activity to identify vulnerabilities, security hotspots, data exfiltration risks, telemetry leaks, and unauthorized API calls.

• Harden and customize open-source tools, and build in-house solutions, to meet enterprise security, configuration, and SSO requirements, including removing or disabling malicious, undocumented, or non-compliant external connections.

• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines incorporating AI Coding Tools to automate source checkout, security scanning, code patching, SSO integration, code signing, packaging, and publication.

• Deliver signed, versioned application binaries through an internal launcher or portal for one-click developer installation.

• Design, develop, and maintain AI agents within the existing AI portal, including prompts, tool integrations, multi-step reasoning, code generation, and interactive workflows.

• Implement tracking, monitoring, and observability across open-source tools, in-house applications, and AI agents; troubleshoot issues and improve orchestration, reliability, and performance.

• Collaborate with InfoSec, DevOps, platform engineering, and developer experience teams to align security policies, deployment standards, and usability.

• Maintain audit reports, records of modifications and residual risks, integration guides, operational runbooks, and developer-facing FAQs.

• 3+ years of software engineering experience building, integrating, and supporting applications or developer tools.

• Strong proficiency in at least one of Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, Go, or C++, with the ability to navigate and modify unfamiliar codebases.

• Hands-on experience integrating LLMs, AI coding assistants, or agent frameworks, including prompt design, tool integration, and workflow automation.

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, build automation, application packaging, and release management using GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or similar tools.

• Experience integrating APIs and enterprise authentication, with a working understanding of SSO, OAuth 2.0/OIDC, and session management.

• Familiarity with logging, monitoring, and observability, and an ability to troubleshoot application, integration, and network issues.

• Ability to investigate user-reported issues, communicate clearly with users, and deliver practical fixes.

• Working knowledge of secure development practices and code quality tooling; experience with SonarQube, dependency scanning, or network analysis tools is a plus.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, including technical documentation and collaboration across engineering, security, and platform teams.
