You’d be one of the few dedicated Forward Deployed Engineers partnering directly with clinics and hospitals to improve the patient experience through a blend of technical expertise and strong communication skills. You’ll work closely with customers, turning real-world operational needs into functional prototypes, while serving as the bridge between product and engineering.
You will work across the entire product stack, acting as the connective tissue between our AI agents, cloud infrastructure, and the clinics that depend on us. You ship quickly, sweat the details, and think critically about how production systems fail. This is a high-ownership, high-trust role at the technical core of TriFetch.
What You Will DoArchitect: Design and build the bridge between our Tauri/Rust desktop client and Python cloud backend, ensuring high performance, low latency for voice agents, and system reliability.
Agent Infrastructure: Design the scalable infrastructure required to run concurrent AI agents (browser automation, computer use, and voice orchestration).
DevOps & Cloud: Take ownership of our cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP). Establish CI/CD pipelines, containerization, deployment strategies for Python/AI services, and robust monitoring/alerting.
Security & Compliance: Implement rigorous security protocols. Since our AI agents interact with patient EMRs, ensuring our data pipelines and agent actions are secure, auditable, and HIPAA/SOC-2 compliant is non-negotiable.
Experienced: 2+ years of software engineering experience, with a proven track record of designing and scaling complex cloud architectures.
Python Backend Expert: Deep, production-level experience building robust, scalable Python backends and APIs.
Systems Thinker (Rust/Desktop): Experience with or a strong willingness to dive into Rust. You understand how desktop applications interact with OS-level resources and cloud services.
Security Minded: You understand how to build secure systems, manage secrets, and protect sensitive user data against the unique vulnerabilities introduced by autonomous AI agents.
A Builder & Teacher: You are pragmatic, balancing the need to ship fast with the need to build things right. You enjoy sharing your knowledge with others.
This role involves access to systems that process Protected Health Information (PHI). All personnel in this role must:
Handle PHI securely: Access and store PHI only in HIPAA-compliant TriFetch infrastructure. Follow TriFetch's data classification and retention policies.
Practice secure access & system hygiene: Enforce least-privilege access, store all secrets in GCP Secret Manager (never exposed in code, version control, or messaging tools), and keep devices encrypted/patched with audit logging enabled on PHI systems. Ensure PHI systems log access, modification, and deletion events.
Complete required training & adhere to policies: Complete annual HIPAA Privacy & Security training and TriFetch security awareness training. Acknowledge and adhere to TriFetch's Acceptable Use Policy and related security policies upon hire and annually thereafter.

What We Do
TriFetch is a San Francisco-based healthcare AI startup that provides an end-to-end automation platform for independent specialty clinics and multi-specialty groups. The company automates critical administrative workflows, including patient calls, scheduling, referral processing, and prior authorizations. By reducing the administrative burden on staff, TriFetch enables healthcare providers to focus more on patient care while integrating seamlessly with existing EMR systems.
