Fortinet Network Engineer

Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Fortinet Network Engineer to design, implement, and maintain secure and efficient network infrastructure utilizing Fortinet security solutions. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with FortiGate firewalls, SD-WAN, VPNs, FortiAnalyzer, FortiManager, and other Fortinet security products. This role involves working closely with IT teams to optimize network security, ensure high availability, and troubleshoot issues.

Key Responsibilities:Network Security & Firewall Management:

• Configure, deploy, and maintain FortiGate firewalls (policies, NAT, VPNs, UTM features).
• Monitor and manage Fortinet SD-WAN for optimized traffic flow and redundancy.
• Set up and maintain IPSec and SSL VPNs for secure remote access.
• Perform firewall rule audits, tuning, and optimization to enhance security posture.
• Implement Fortinet UTM (Unified Threat Management) features including web filtering, antivirus, and intrusion prevention.

Network Design & Administration:

• Design and implement LAN/WAN architectures using Fortinet solutions.
• Configure and maintain FortiSwitch and FortiAP for seamless networking.
• Integrate Fortinet solutions with existing infrastructure to enhance security and performance.
• Work with third-party vendors and ISPs to optimize network connectivity.

Monitoring & Troubleshooting:

• Utilize FortiAnalyzer and FortiManager for logging, reporting, and centralized firewall management.
• Proactively monitor network security events, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions.
• Conduct penetration testing and vulnerability assessments to identify risks.
• Provide Level 2/3 support for network-related incidents and service requests.

Compliance & Best Practices:

• Ensure Fortinet security solutions comply with industry standards and best practices.
• Assist in disaster recovery and business continuity planning for network infrastructure.
• Stay updated on Fortinet certifications, firmware updates, and emerging cybersecurity threats.
• Maintain accurate documentation of configurations, policies, and network diagrams.

Qualifications & Experience:

• 5+ years of hands-on experience with Fortinet networking solutions (FortiGate, FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer, etc.).
• Strong knowledge of firewall administration, security policies, and VPN technologies.
• Experience with Fortinet SD-WAN, high availability (HA), and load balancing.
• Solid understanding of network protocols (BGP, OSPF, VLANs, QoS, NAT, DHCP, DNS, etc.).
• Familiarity with security frameworks and compliance (NIST, PCI-DSS, ISO 27001, etc.).
• Fortinet NSE4 or higher certification preferred (NSE5, NSE6, NSE7 a plus).
• Knowledge of cloud networking (Azure, AWS, GCP) and integration with Fortinet security solutions is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving skills with excellent communication and documentation abilities.
