About the role.
This is a field-based sales role managing a territory across Sydney CBD, North Sydney, Eastern Suburbs, Inner West, North Shore, Northern Beaches, Northwest Sydney, Paramatta, and Tamworth.
You'll spend most of your time out with customers, visiting sites, building relationships, and identifying opportunities to grow our presence. A big part of the role is being proactive: showing up, starting conversations, and finding ways to add value.
You'll work with a diverse customer base ranging from independent operators through to premium hospitality venues across some of Sydney's most dynamic Foodservice markets.
You'll work a structured weekly rhythm:
  • Monday to Thursday: on the road visiting customers across your territory
  • Friday: based in the Sydney office for planning, admin and team connection

Travel to Tamworth and surrounding areas is required approximately once per quarter and will include overnight stays.
Success in this role comes from staying consistent, thinking on your feet, and building strong relationships, even during challenging conversations. You'll be working across a competitive market and managing relationships with both customers and distributor partners, strong relationship-building skills and commercial awareness are essential. It takes time to build momentum, so your initial focus will be on learning the territory, understanding your customers, and building strong relationships to support long-term growth.
What you'll be doing.
  • Manage and grow a portfolio of Foodservice customers across your territory
  • Proactively seek out new business opportunities and convert them into ongoing relationships
  • Build strong relationships with end-users and key customer contacts, while developing effective partnerships with distributor representatives to support product availability, growth and execution within your territory
  • Spend time in the field each day, engaging customers, understanding their needs, and responding to challenges
  • Run product demonstrations ("cook-ups") to showcase the McCain range and drive interest within accounts
  • Increase product ranging, profitability and drive presence within existing accounts
  • Deliver targets and KPIs through Cycle Plans and market initiatives
  • Plan and prioritise your call cycle across metro and regional areas
  • Maintain accurate records in CRM and track opportunities, risks, and performance
  • Develop an understanding of customer and distributor commercial drivers, including pricing, margins and growth opportunities
  • Work closely with the broader Foodservice team to share insights and improve results

What you'll need to be successful.
  • Experience in a customer-facing sales or service role (Foodservice, hospitality, FMCG, retail or similar), with Foodservice or closely related industry experience preferred
  • A strong self-starter mindset with the ability to manage your own time and territory
  • Confidence building relationships and engaging a wide range of customers
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships with both end-users and distributor partners
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to influence a range of stakeholders
  • Commercial awareness and some understanding of customer profitability, distributor margins and business drivers
  • Resilience, with the ability to handle rejection, solve problems and adapt to changing circumstances
  • Strong organisational skills and confidence using systems (e.g. Salesforce, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment
