What You’ll Do
Hungryroot is looking for a Food Safety Quality Assurance Lead to join our growing Operations Team. As a Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA) Lead, this individual will be responsible for fulfillment center compliance, testing, and ensuring regulatory standards are being met that align with Hungryroot’s Food Safety & Quality policies. 

The FSQA Lead needs to be highly motivated, possess a strong attention to detail, and demonstrate a working knowledge of process control. This role will serve as an additional on-site resource regarding food safety and quality-related processes and procedures. This role must follow all health and safety standards and comply with all GMPs. 

Responsibilities

  • Works with a high level of independence to perform tests of the fulfillment operation to ensure our products conform to specifications. 

  • Provide technical support for cross-functional teams to ensure company quality and food safety standards compliance.

  • Perform incoming product checks, including trailer inspection (cleanliness, temperature, overall conditions), box and pallet inspection (intact, undamaged), product appearance & temperature, and adherence to product purchasing specifications.

  • Perform testing of quality of product and process control points defined by the Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Point (HACCP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). Reject or retain food products that exceed acceptance criteria. 

  • Perform requirements such as GMP, Pest Control, and other audits. A daily documentation of all FSQA concerns in the appropriate log book or forms, audit checks and paperwork, and provide corrective recommendations if required

  • Understands and completes a variety of paperwork associated with traceability, quality, and controls. 

  • Responsible for timely completion and accuracy of paperwork.

  • Assures that documentation is completed and delivered on time for proper daily review. May use computer software and electronic equipment to enter data

  • Ensures all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) are followed and may champion the GMP processes. At times may be assigned to other areas other than where they usually work.

  • Establish, maintain and promote good communications with all departments and levels of management

  • Performs other tasks and duties as needed.


Requirements

  • At least one year of experience in a Quality Assurance or Quality Control environment is preferred

  • Six months of experience working in a food related environment.

  • Must be able to work in various climates (0 F - 34 F) and stand on feet for long periods.

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs

  • Able to utilize standard processes, procedures, and equipment.

  • Knowledge of production processes, quality control, and other techniques to facilitate the manufacturing of our products

  • Prior experience with HACCP preferred

  • Able to perform essential math functions, including addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication.

  • Able to perform calibrations of equipment.

  • Google Suite, Netsuite, Airtable user capabilities.

  • General high school degree/GED or equivalent preferred

  • Must be 18 or older to apply as required for machinery and/or equipment utilization

  • Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language, including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.

  • Spanish Bilingual is a plus.
