Operate rig floor equipment and support systems under the direction of the Driller. Perform general rig floor house-keeping duties and material preservation activities under the supervision of the Driller. Assist other personnel as directed.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 6+ months of experience working offshore.
  • Completion of all training requirements for the position within designated time period.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

         OPERATIONS

  • Safely and efficiently perform all duties assigned by the Driller during drilling, work over and completion operations.
  • Ensure the drill floor is kept clean and that all equipment is in its proper place.
  • When required, work with casing, cementing, logging, and directional crews in performing specialized operations related to down hole operations.
  • During tripping operations work assigned duties to include make-up/break-out tong operator, pipe tailer/stabber, back-up tong operator, pull and set slips, make up and break out tool joints, and replace tong dies.
  • Check and replace snub lines and break out lines as required.
  • Inspect spinning wrench for proper and safe working order.  Grease as required.
  • Ensure air lubricator has required oil.
  • Inspect chain.
  • Inspect hanging line and counterweight assembly.
  • Inspect snub line.
  • Conduct mud viscosity and mud weight checks of the drilling mud at the shale shaker as required.
  • Work as required in the pontoon area to transfer fluids.
  • Communicate all activity in pontoon area with Driller, Ballast Control Operator and Barge Engineer.
  • Participate in the development of newly appointed team members.
  • Other duties as assigned.

         MAINTENANCE

  • Safely and efficiently perform all duties assigned during maintenance operations.
  • Perform housekeeping around the rig as required, such as keeping the rig floor clean and clear of all tools after each trip.
  • Keep BOPs washed down.
  • Keep shale shaker and de-sander clean when in use.  Perform necessary maintenance on the shale shaker.
  • Keep drawworks and rotary lubricated.
  • Become familiar with blowout and shut-in procedures.
  • Visually inspect the drill string so as to report wash outs, excessive wear, joint or thread damage.
  • May be required to do rig and equipment maintenance such as chipping, scraping, painting, scrubbing, and cleaning.
  • Assist in keeping the deck of the rig free of all unnecessary tools and equipment.
  • Relieve the Derrickman as assigned in order to gain experience for promotion.
  • Assist in maintaining the general appearance of the drilling rig.
  • Assist with maintenance of equipment in the pontoon area.

         HEALTH, SAFETY & ENVIRONMENTAL

  • Implement and uphold Noble's safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that all operations proceed in a safe manner.  Correct and notify responsible parties of any unsafe acts and/or conditions which exist.
  • Encourage and motivate personnel to observe safety and environmental policies and all intended and implied requirements of Noble's Management System.
  • Responsible for familiarizing and adhering to Noble's Live Safe Code for the purpose of promoting a zero-incident and no-harm workplace.
  • Responsible for familiarizing and utilizing Noble's Hazard Identification Tool to manage risk created by various energy sources found in the workplace.
  • Attend and actively participate in daily pre-tour and weekly safety meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with the requirements established in Noble's Management System.
  • Initiate a safety stand down whenever an unplanned hazard or change in the expected results is observed.
  • Perform all Safety Critical Tasks as detailed in the HSE Case.
  • Incorporate the STOP the job planning process into all tasks, whether working alone or as part of a team.
  • Take the initiative to perform emergency duties without specific orders or instruction.
  • Develop and implement Job Safety Analysis and prepare hazard assessments as required.
  • Responsible for compliance with all government regulations.
