The ePlane Company is seeking a full-time Flight Mechanics Test Engineer to join our team based in Chennai.

As an Flight Mechanics Test Engineer, you will
  • Prepare the aircraft for Subscale or full scale flight testing and establish/improvise checklists and SOPs
  • Develop comprehensive flight test plans in collaboration with all teams, outlining test objectives, procedures, and success criteria.
  • Review flight logs and drive hardware and software modifications based on thorough analysis and feedback obtained from testing outcomes.
  • Work closely with avionics, propulsion, structural, software, and flight controls engineers to develop and support flight testing for VTOL platform.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and log analysis for investigation of aircraft occurrences.
  • Prepare logs and system level reports on test flights
  • Prepare the learnings and their application on other platforms.
  • Collaborate with the design team and improve simulation results from flight testing
  • Conduct the system identification tests and update the flight dynamics model


Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace / Aeronautical / Electrical Engineering or related field and 3+ years of experience in relevant domain

Preferred skill sets

  • GNC Systems: Strong expertise in Guidance, Navigation, and Control algorithms, state estimation, and sensor fusion.

  • Autopilot Software: Practical proficiency with open-source and proprietary platforms.

  • Control Theory: Applied knowledge of PID loop tuning, adaptive control, and system identification tasks.

  • Ground Control Stations (GCS): Working experience with GCS for commanding flights and viewing real-time telemetry. 

  • Avionics & Payload Integration: Knowledge of integrating companion computers, cameras, LiDAR, and servo actuators, motors onto airframes.

  • Communications & Data Links: Understanding of RF links, telemetry modems, satellite links, and encryption standards.

  • Electric Propulsion: Familiarity with BLDC motors, Electronic Speed Controllers (ESCs), and Lithium-Polymer (LiPo) battery management systems.

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
