Role and Responsibilities
Summary
Non-rated Crew Member Flight Engineers are responsible for monitoring the aircraft systems, diagnose and eliminate any problems that may arise, and ensure that all maintenance faults have been recorded and properly corrected. These duties will be performed day and night as well as under VMC and IMC.
This position supports the Army Advanced Helicopter Flight Training program conducted at Fort Rucker, Alabama and includes both US Army students as well as a contingent of multinational students
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Responsible for monitoring the aircraft systems, diagnose and eliminate any problems that may arise, and ensure that all maintenance faults have been recorded and properly corrected.
- Conducts pre-flight and in-flight briefings, and post-flight After Action Reviews
- Conducts log book write ups and maintenance as required
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Previous designation as a CH-47 Flight Engineer
- Flight Engineers (FE) must have 5+ years as a non-rated crewmember and have been previously designated as a FE in the aircraft.
- Operational military experience in the CH-47F aircraft
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required
- Must be able to work overtime as required
- Must be willing to work any shift or day of the week as required
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Able to maintain a current Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) third-class Medical Certificate or, if a member of the National Guard or Reserves, an Army 2992 FFD.
Language Skills
Must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex aviation word and technical documents/diagrams.
Mathematical Skills
Must be able to calculate figures and amounts, and percentages, and to draw and interpret graphs.
Reasoning Ability
Must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. An ability to interpret student requirements and attitudes from verbal, non-verbal, and written communication is essential.
Security Responsibilities
Must comply with all company security and data protection / usage policies and procedures. Personally responsible for proper marking and handling of all information and materials, in any form. Shall not divulge any information, or afford access, to other employees not having a need-to-know. Shall not divulge information outside company without management approval. All government and proprietary information will be accessed and stored electronically on company provided resources.
- Incumbent must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance.
Work Environment
- Work in a regular office environment; communicate via personal computer, telephone and fax
- Will be working in areas with risk of electrical shock from moving mechanical parts driven by hydraulics under high pressure
- Will at times be exposed to the following conditions: extreme heat, airborne particles, and loud noises consistent with an aviation facility to include flight line operations

- Domestic travel as required
- Must be able to walk and/or climb stairs and ladder into a simulator or airplane cockpit
- Must be able to stoop, bend, and crawl on top or under training devices.
- Must be able to detect odors or hear noises, bangs, etc., or other sounds to detect problems or flaws in the surrounding environment
- Must be able to distinguish colors
