Job Responsibilities:
- Analyze and evaluate current manufacturing processes for flight deck components to identify areas for improvement in efficiency, cost, and quality.
- Design, develop, and implement lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies, and other industrial engineering techniques to optimize production workflows.
- Conduct time studies, motion studies, and value stream mapping to identify bottlenecks and eliminate non-value-added activities.
- Develop and implement facility layouts, material flow strategies, and workstation designs to improve operational efficiency and safety.
- Utilize data analysis and statistical tools to measure process performance, identify root causes of issues, and track the effectiveness of implemented solutions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including design engineering, production, quality, and supply chain to ensure seamless integration of new processes and technologies.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions for manufacturing processes.
- Participate in new product introduction (NPI) activities, ensuring manufacturability and cost-effectiveness of flight deck designs.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and foster a culture of operational excellence within the manufacturing environment.
- Prepare detailed reports and presentations summarizing findings, recommendations, and project progress to management.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Operations, or a related technical field and a minimum of 3 years of experience in industrial engineering, manufacturing engineering, or operations improvement within a manufacturing environment; or a high school diploma/GED and a minimum of 6 years of related experience.
- Demonstrated experience applying lean manufacturing principles, process improvement, standard work, time studies, and/or workflow optimization in production environments.
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
Desired Characteristics and Experience:
- Proven experience with lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies (Green Belt or Black Belt certification preferred), and continuous improvement tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data and develop practical solutions.
- Proficiency in process mapping, time studies, and facility layout design software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Process Simulate).
- Experience with statistical analysis software (e.g., Minitab, JMP) is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with all levels of the organization.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Knowledge of aerospace industry standards and regulations (e.g., AS9100) is a plus.
