The Role:
The Material/Fleet Coordinator position is located within the GM Defense Advance Build space at Milford Proving Grounds. As Material Coordinator, they will be the liaison between GM purchasing, product engineering, manufacturing, and our supply base. They will champion material management, part display/storage, and shipping and receiving in the Advanced Build Shop space. As Fleet Coordinator, they will support cross functional teams in engineering, communications, and business development to ensure the GM Defense fleet is appropriately maintained; communicate any vehicle usage restrictions; ensure vehicles are shipped on time as needed, and maintain a master schedule for all vehicle usage. This is an in-person position at Milford Proving Grounds.
What You'll Do:

  • Develop Internal Parts tracking system, updating required quantities, tracking inventory, working with inventory specialists to manage inventory, pulling parts, labeling, and setting up build carts for build shop activities.
  • Enter and review BOM details for spare parts requirements in inventory management system
  • Update Inventory management system with requirement details as required to support part deliveries
  • Manage materials at storage facilities - arrange transportation to and from, complete quarterly reviews of materials
  • Communicate with Suppliers regarding Purchase Orders and monitor manufacturing status. Engage Engineering, Management, or Supplier Quality as required to address roadblocks
  • Communicate with Internal manufacturing sites to provide materials ordering support, priority direction for existing orders, and promise dates for parts in the system. Arrange pickup and transportation for materials or parts completed at the manufacturing facility.
  • Arrange and support materials transportation to and from suppliers and customer.
  • Execute Internal parts ordering through CCA (Customer Care & Aftersales)
  • Track and Report Material Status to Expected Delivery and Collaboratively manage impact to project timing and delivery schedules.
  • Coordinates scrap material activities with returned parts and Engineering team.
  • Track and maintain fleet inventory and master schedule and prepare shipping requests to move vehicles as required
  • Show vehicle support - oversee prep of show vehicles ensuring retrofits and updates are completed, inspections are completed, and that vehicle is detailed before leaving. Inspect vehicles upon return and close out open issues before next engagement
  • Vehicle Content Verification - Assist Lead Development Engineers with fleet hardware and software management

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Technical discipline preferred. Equivalent work experience considered in lieu of degree.
  • Ability to operate a forklift
  • Ability to work within a small team atmosphere
  • Ability to multi-task supporting engineering and build teams, supplier capacity, and customer requirements
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Excellent communication and command skills are vital to be successful in this position
  • Excellent analytical and problems solving skills
  • High level of administrative and organizational skills. Ability to plan, organize, and document tasks.
  • Must be a self-starter and be able to identify roadblocks and elevate accordingly.
  • Work experience in Fleet Management, especially with high security vehicles and global shipping.


What Can Give You a Competitive Advantage (Preferred Qualifications)

  • 3-5 years of experience in fleet management
  • Knowledge of procurement software or ability to learn and adapt to new applications quickly
  • Experienced in software such as SharePoint and Project preferrable
  • Knowledge of Supply chain process and materials management
  • Knowledge of SAP, MGO and other GM material systems
  • Strong analytical, computer, presentation, and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of basic manufacturing and assembly processes
  • SharePoint familiarity with data entry/management.
  • Familiarity with serial data programming tools.
