Job purpose


The Field Service Tech Master Journeyman rotates on a 14/14 schedule servicing customers and units in a designated region.  As a member of the Rapid Response team the Field Service Technician Master Journeyman provides technical assistance in diagnosis, troubleshooting and repair of heavy equipment, working closely with all levels of technicians.  With little to no supervision, the Field Service Tech Master Journeyman schedules work, monitors quality control for work performed, and customer relations.

 

Duties and responsibilities


  • Diagnoses, services and repairs various systems that are found on pieces of heavy equipment such as mechanical and computer electronic controls, transmissions, computer controlled automatic transmissions and pneumatic systems
  • Troubleshoots malfunctions in the equipment and repair
  • Repairs and services track drive sprockets, rails, idler wheels, hand bars, track adjusters, hydraulic, reversers, final drives, brake bands, steering clutches, and hydrostatic transmissions
  • Service, diagnoses, repairs and maintains speed tandem drive axles with air or electric shift, hydrostatic driven, heavy-duty multi-axle suspensions
  • Tunes gas and diesel engines, services valves, fuel filters and turbo chargers, and pressure checks fuel filters, adjust injector heights, fuel racks, governors, etc.
  • Diagnoses problems, disassembles units, repairs or replaces parts, and reassembles units in the cooling, drive, brake, electrical, steering, heating, and air conditioning, hydraulic and air systems
  • Overhauls engines, replaces engines and rebuilds components
  • Must be able to identify, perform and troubleshoot malfunctions in the equipment and repair at an advances level
  • Completes and turns in all documentation necessary to finalize the work that was performed without supervision
  • Ensures that all field jobs are completed in a proficient and safe manor
  • Seeks continuous technical training to stay informed of the continuous changes in the various models of equipment
  • Assist in training lower-level workers in mechanical repair techniques
  • Promote good welfare among the company and its divisions
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications

Qualifications

 

  • Must have a minimum of 6 years of experience in the construction and mining machinery industry.
  • GED or High School Diploma, applied certification(s) for job description preferred

  • Must have a working knowledge of the above titles position and how it relates to the overall business and its objectives    
  • Must have the ability to teach and motivate others
  • Must have the ability to effectively operate diagnostic tools, shop equipment and have advanced troubleshooting skills
  • Must have advanced electrical skills
  • Must meet goals and objectives set forth by the company
  • Must conform to policies and procedures set forth by the company
  • Must have a current driver’s license and acceptable driving record per WPI Insurance carrier standards if driving a company vehicle
  • Must be able to pass and maintain drug and alcohol testing requirements as outlined by the Department of Transportation
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Must be able to bend and twist several times a day
  • Must have the ability to work flexible hours and days
  • Must be proficient in Windows System (MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Access and Outlook)
  • Must be dependable and work independently
  • Must maintain good client relations
  • Must maintain a professional appearance
  • Must promote and maintain a clean, neat and safe environment
  • Must have the ability to travel and stay overnight
  • Must abide by customer’s safety rules and regulations on customer’s site
  • Must protect the company assets and interest
