The Role

About this role

Business Area: Fixed Income Product Strategy

BlackRock’s Fixed Income team manages over $3 trillion globally and is recognized as one of the industry’s most innovative and diversified fixed income platforms. The team brings together world-class portfolio managers, quantitative researchers, and fundamental investors across regions, offering clients a uniquely broad set of solutions across index, active, alternative, and liability driven strategies.

Product Strategists are insightful investment professionals who partner closely with Portfolio Managers and Client Business. They play a central role in connecting investment teams with the client business, ensuring investment perspectives are aligned with client needs and market realities. Embedded within investment teams, Product Strategists provide specialized product, investment, and market expertise.

As Product Strategists progress in seniority, the role offers a unique opportunity to shape high-impact investment proposals and deliver strategic presentations that meaningfully influence client decision-making. Senior Product Strategists play a critical role in helping Japanese clients navigate fixed income markets by translating global investment insights into actionable, locally relevant solutions, thereby making a tangible contribution to the evolution of fixed income investing in Japan.

This role is also rewarding in that it allows Product Strategists to work closely with BlackRock’s global fixed income platform and help make its capabilities accessible and relevant to Japanese investors. By partnering with global portfolio managers and investment teams, Product Strategists support the effective delivery of global fixed income insights and solutions to the Japan market, contributing to thoughtful product positioning and client engagement.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead partnerships with client business, marketing, and internal stakeholders to position and support BlackRock’s fixed income products in Japan

  • Represent products and portfolio managers in client review meetings, market updates, and adhoc portfolio discussions — independently and effectively

  • Communicate investment outlooks, market insights, and product updates to key clients, using global research and resources

  • Be responsible for the creation and enhancement of product materials, including presentations, marketing content, RFPs, reports, and written commentary

  • Manage and respond to sophisticated client requests, including deep duediligence questionnaires and product assessments

  • Drive new product development from idea generation through launch, collaborating with global and regional teams

Qualifications:

  • Candidates should bring proven experience in product strategy, product management, or investment related roles (within asset management or broader financial services), or a solid understanding of fixed income and capital markets concepts

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Japanese and English

  • Proven track record to understand and address the needs of strategic clients

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts clearly and concisely

  • Collaborative attitude with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective working relationships quickly

What We Do

As the world’s largest asset manager, BlackRock partners with investors around the globe to help them (and those on whose behalf they invest) plan for life’s most important goals – like retirement, home ownership and their children’s education. Our clients range from governments, foundations and other large institutions to those investing on behalf of individuals, including firefighters, nurses, teachers and factory workers. BlackRock was founded with the idea of creating a better asset management firm — one that was purpose-driven, focused on clients and risk management, and propelled by data and technology. Our breakthrough Aladdin® platform is BlackRock’s technological backbone, helping investors see and manage their whole portfolios in one place – from constructing investments to monitoring risk and executing trades. Used by hundreds of external institutions around the world, Aladdin combines powerful analytics and a common language to help investment teams make faster, more informed decisions across public and private markets. It’s a key part of our business and one of the reasons we’re trusted to manage more assets than any other investment manager today. At BlackRock, we challenge conventions and raise the bar for what’s possible. We harness technology to unlock new solutions, simplify complexity, and deliver investment strategies that meet people where they are. Whether it’s retirement planning, wealth building or navigating market shifts, we’re here to help clients invest more easily, more affordably and with more choice as we chart a path toward financial well-being together.
