We are seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Fitter and Turner to join our operations on a full‑time basis in Rotorua. This role involves the manufacture, assembly, maintenance, and repair of mechanical equipment and components in a production and maintenance environment.

About the Role

The Fitter and Turner will apply both fitting and machining skills to produce, assemble, and maintain mechanical systems and components. Work is performed using conventional and/or CNC machine tools and includes fault‑finding, repair, and preventative maintenance activities.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be required to:

  • Study drawings, specifications, and job instructions to determine machining and fitting requirements
  • Operate lathes, milling machines, and other machine tools to manufacture and repair mechanical parts
  • Fit, assemble, adjust, and install mechanical components and systems
  • Carry out routine and breakdown maintenance on plant and equipment
  • Perform fabrication, modification, and repair work to ensure equipment reliability
  • Inspect finished components to ensure compliance with specifications and tolerances
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and productive work environment in accordance with health and safety requirements

Skills and Experience Required

  • Trade qualification as a Fitter and Turner or equivalent overseas qualification
  • Minimum 3–5 years’ relevant post‑qualification experience in an industrial, production, or maintenance environment
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
  • Competency in machining operations and mechanical assembly
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with effective fault‑finding skills

Desirable / Advantageous Skills

  • Hydraulic experience, including mobile and/or fixed plant systems
  • Experience working during maintenance shutdowns (shuts)

Personal Attributes

  • Proactive and self‑motivated, with a strong focus on maintaining productivity
  • Willing and available to work overtime during scheduled shutdowns
  • Flexible and available to work across other branches or sites as operationally required
  • Proven team player with good communication skills

Employment Details

  • Employment type: Full‑time, permanent
  • Hours: Minimum 40 hours per week
  • Pay rate: $35.00 – $45.00 per hour, depending on skills and experience

The successful applicant must be legally eligible to work in New Zealand at the time of commencement

A pre‑employment drug and alcohol test is required.
