The Opportunity:
As the Fiscal Specialist 2 in Information Technology Services (ITS), you will perform a variety of complex fiscal, purchasing, payroll, and budget-related functions in support of a diverse technology organization serving the Washington State University community. Your responsibilities include processing purchasing transactions; administering payroll and personnel-related fiscal activities; monitoring and reconciling budgets and expenditures; preparing financial reports and analyses; managing procurement activities, including purchasing card reconciliation and compliance; and maintaining financial records in accordance with university, state, and federal regulations. In this position, you will exercise independent judgment in supporting departmental operations, technology initiatives, and special projects, while providing excellent customer service and ensuring effective stewardship of ITS financial resources.
Additional Information:
This is a full time (100% FTE), permanent position. This position is overtime eligible.
Monthly Salary: $3,917 to $5,240 (Steps A-M) | Range 43 | Successful candidates are typically hired at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28.
In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:
Two years of experience at a level equivalent to Fiscal Specialist 1 AND 15 quarter hours OR 10 semester hours of college level accounting; OR equivalent education/experience.
Strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, PowerPoint, and information management systems.
Demonstrated fiscal administrative experience relating to budgeting, funding, purchasing, billing and/or travel.
Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Demonstrated ability of multi-tasking, priority planning, and flexibility.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to use independent judgment, tact and diplomacy.
Preferred Qualifications:
Professional experience working in higher education.
Experience in providing fiscal support in an information technology environment.
Experience with project management.
Experience drafting service contracts and other technical agreements.
Experience with Workday ERP and HCM applications.
Experience with WSU policies and procedures including purchasing rules and guidelines.
