Responsibilities
- Drive technical innovation by collaborating with the product team to prioritize technical needs, translate customer requirements into firmware solutions, participate in customer interviews, and serve as the primary technical contact for stakeholders.
- Develop a deep expertise in our aerial surveying workflow and drive innovation to enhance drone capabilities and features.
- Lead and mentor the firmware team by setting a clear technical vision. Coach engineers, oversee the design, and select appropriate tools and technologies to support project and organisational goals related to firmware platforms.
- Debug and troubleshoot complex issues by serving as the go-to expert for challenges throughout the firmware development lifecycle.
- Ensure seamless firmware integration and optimal user experience through cross-functional collaboration with Cloud, Hardware, and QA teams.
- Champion software development best practices, enhance toolchains, and promote DevOps and CI/CD strategies for engineering efficiency and excellence.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, Robotics or a related field.
- 8 to 10 years of professional experience in embedded firmware development, including at least 3 years of technical leadership.
- Proven experience in a product company, demonstrated by successfully bringing innovative products from concept through launch and scaling production, preferably within robotics, UAVs, or a similar deep tech environment.
- Strong C and C++ skills for embedded systems (bare-metal/RTOS), proficiency with memory management, interrupts, and real-time constraints.
- Deep knowledge of embedded Linux. Experience with implementation of custom device tree and kernel overlays.
- Solid understanding of microcontroller-based systems, various communication protocols, and integration of sensors and actuators.
- Experience with electronics design, PCB development, and electronics-firmware integration.
- Excellent debugging and problem-solving skills and proficiency with diagnostic tools such as JTAG/SWD debuggers, logic analyzers, and oscilloscopes.
- Familiarity with modern software development workflows and tools.
- Excellent communication skills in English for technical discussions and cross-team collaboration.
