NVIDIA is at the forefront of high-growth areas such as High-Performance Computing (HPC), Artificial Intelligence (AI), cloud data centers, and gaming. OpenBMC and our OpenSMA microcontroller framework are critical open-source platforms for server management, enabling NVIDIA and our partners to build next-generation GPU server platforms with the best performance, security, and reliability in the industry.
In this role, you will work on new server product bring-up and core firmware development, driving the evolution of OpenBMC and OpenSMA in the open-source community. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, customers, and ecosystem partners to support and improve customer adoption. This position offers the excitement of tackling complex technical challenges, the impact of shaping industry standards, and the satisfaction of seeing your work power NVIDIA’s data center platforms.

  • Contribute and upstream code, collaborating with the open-source community to drive feature requirements and influence project direction.

  • Design and implement platform manageability features with a focus on telemetry, firmware updates, and reliability for our datacenter devices (CPUs, GPUs, NICs, etc.).

  • Leverage industry standards (MCTP, PLDM, OBMF, etc.) to build high-performance and secure platform management solutions.

  • Participate in board bring-up, customer support, and debugging of the next-generation of GPU server platforms.

  • Collaborate with customers and partners (internal and external) to facilitate, solve, and improve server management solutions while promoting the ecosystem.

  • Provide technical guidance, training, and documentation to help customers and ecosystem partners adopt OpenBMC more effectively.

What we need to see:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.

  • 5+ years of relevant experience, with a proven background in large-scale projects and cross-functional teamwork.

  • Proficiency in C/C++ with scripting skills in Python or Bash.

  • RTOS, Baremetal, and/or Embedded Linux development experience.

  • Ability to debug boards in the lab with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and schematics.

  • Experience with serial communication protocols (I2C/I3C/SMBus, SPI, USB, etc.).

Ways to stand out from the crowd:

  • Direct experience working with the OpenBMC project.

  • Active contributor to open-source projects (OpenBMC, Linux kernel, Open Compute, DMTF standards, etc.).

  • Knowledge of datacenter management standards (MCTP, PLDM, Redfish, SPDM, PMBus, NVMe-MI).

  • Passion for driving industry standards and ecosystem building, serving as a bridge between internal teams, customers, and the open-source community.
