This role is ideal for someone who takes ownership of cloud financial efficiency, proactively identifies cost-saving opportunities, and drives optimization initiatives across infrastructure, platforms, and services.
As a FinOps Engineer, you will work closely with Engineering, SRE, Product, and Finance teams to improve cloud spending visibility, optimize resource utilization, and establish cost-conscious engineering practices. You will play a critical role in ensuring that cloud investments align with business objectives while maintaining platform performance, scalability, and reliability.
RequirementsKey Responsibilities
- Continuously analyze and optimize cloud infrastructure costs across AWS, Azure, and GCP environments.
- Identify underutilized resources, cost leaks, and inefficiencies across compute, storage, networking, databases, Kubernetes clusters, and SaaS platforms.
- Develop and implement cloud cost optimization strategies, including rightsizing, storage optimization, autoscaling improvements, and workload scheduling.
- Design and maintain cost visibility dashboards, reporting frameworks, and chargeback/showback models for business stakeholders.
- Lead regular cloud cost reviews and provide actionable recommendations to engineering and leadership teams.
- Optimize Kubernetes infrastructure through resource tuning, node optimization, autoscaling configurations, and cost-management tools.
- Implement automated monitoring, alerts, and anomaly detection systems to proactively identify unexpected spending patterns.
- Integrate cost governance controls into CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure-as-Code templates, and deployment processes.
- Collaborate with Finance teams on budgeting, forecasting, cloud spend analysis, and unit economics reporting.
- Build automation solutions using scripting languages to streamline reporting and cost management activities.
- Drive adoption of FinOps best practices across engineering teams and promote a culture of cloud cost accountability.
- Evaluate and implement FinOps platforms and cloud-native cost management tools to improve operational efficiency.
- Document optimization initiatives, savings opportunities, and governance processes to support long-term cost management objectives.
- 3+ years of experience in FinOps, DevOps, Cloud Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or related cloud infrastructure roles.
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS and cloud cost optimization methodologies.
- Solid understanding of cloud pricing models, including On-Demand, Reserved Instances, Savings Plans, Spot Instances, and committed-use discounts.
- Experience working with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar technologies.
- Strong knowledge of containerization and Kubernetes platforms, including cost optimization best practices.
- Proficiency in scripting and automation using Python, Bash, or Go.
- Experience working with CI/CD tools and modern DevOps workflows.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret cloud billing and usage data effectively.
- Knowledge of SQL and cloud cost reporting mechanisms for financial analysis and forecasting.
- Familiarity with cloud cost management platforms and FinOps tools is highly desirable.
- Exposure to multi-cloud environments, including AWS, GCP, and Azure, is a plus.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and business teams.
- Self-driven mindset with a proactive approach to identifying inefficiencies and driving measurable cost savings.
- Passion for operational excellence, cloud governance, and continuous optimization.
