The Opportunity

To achieve our ambitious goals, we’re looking for a FinOps Analyst to join our Infrastructure team. This role will work directly with the largest Grammarly vendors, identify and visualize cost drivers, discover cost optimization opportunities, and forecast and analyze our cloud spending. They will drive our financial accountability culture and enable our Product, Engineering, IT, Finance, and Executive teams to scale Grammarly while making data-driven spending decisions.

As a FinOps Analyst, you will be at the forefront of building and optimizing a framework that empowers our engineering teams to manage cloud costs effectively and provides stakeholders with the information to make value-driven decisions. You will create an abstraction over complex, flexible, and user-friendly infrastructure, balancing cost-efficiency with performance and security while making numerous critical decisions.

In this role, you will:

  • Enable better decision-making by promoting and increasing visibility of cloud financial information.
  • Analyze spend across multiple cloud vendors, identifying areas for optimization and efficiency gains.
  • Closely partner with Infrastructure and Finance teams to understand cloud business processes and cost drivers.
  • Create reports, dashboards, and alerts to track spending and usage trends and the potential impact of cost optimizations.
  • Maintain, distribute, and improve company-wide cloud cost reporting.
  • Continuously improve cloud cost management and reporting strategies according to feedback and industry trends.
  • Identify ways to streamline the report-building, forecasting, and alerting processes while improving visibility.
  • Develop solutions and frameworks to facilitate cost-effective service testing, deployment, and monitoring.
  • Proactively monitor cloud consumption to detect, investigate, and escalate anomalies and unplanned spikes.
  • Assist with contract negotiations by modeling usage, cost, and discounts for multiple scenarios.
Qualifications
  • Has at least 3 years of experience managing cloud costs, preferably in a highly scaled multi-cloud environment.
  • Is knowledgeable of AWS, or has deep expertise in Azure or GCP, and is willing to learn AWS quickly.
  • Can communicate well and collaborate effectively, empathetically, and proactively on a tightly integrated team.
  • Is comfortable in a fast-paced and highly dynamic environment.
  • Loves working with cost data, uncovering optimization opportunities, and solving ambiguous problems.
  • Can use BI tools effectively to build comprehensive reports, analyze cost data, and present to decision-makers.
  • Is comfortable presenting to executives or large groups.
  • Can understand a problem, see the holistic picture, and break it down into single and manageable components.
  • Has a demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal guidance, proactively manages tasks and priorities across multiple projects, analyzes and executes work efficiently, collaborates effectively with cross-functional teams, and thrives in fast-paced, results-driven environments.
  • Embodies our EAGER values—is ethical, adaptable, gritty, empathetic, and remarkable.
  • Is inspired by our MOVE principles: move fast and learn faster; obsess about creating customer value; value impact over activity; and embrace healthy disagreement rooted in trust.
