Wood Systems Inc., a leading custom millwork manufacturing company, is seeking a skilled and experienced Finisher to join our team. As a Finisher, you will play a crucial role in adding the final touches to our high-quality custom wood products. You will be responsible for applying finishes, stains, and sealants to enhance the beauty, durability, and functionality of our millwork pieces.


Responsibilities:

  • Prepare wood surfaces by sanding, scraping, and filling imperfections to ensure a smooth and even finish.
  • Apply stains, varnishes, paints, and other finishes using spray guns, brushes, or other appropriate tools, considering the desired appearance and customer specifications.
  • Accurately match wood colors and finishes to maintain consistency and meet customer requirements.
  • Inspect finished products for flaws, such as scratches, bubbles, or uneven coating, and make necessary repairs or adjustments to ensure high-quality standards.
  • Clean, maintain, and troubleshoot finishing equipment and tools to ensure proper functioning and longevity.
  • Follow safety procedures and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment and prevent accidents or injuries.
  • Collaborate with other members of the production team, including designers, carpenters, and project managers, to ensure smooth workflow and timely delivery of finished products.
  • Maintain accurate records of materials used, work performed, and other relevant information to facilitate inventory management and future reference.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, new finishing techniques, and tools to enhance skills and contribute to process improvements.


Qualifications

Requirements:


  • A minimum of 3 years of experience as a Finisher in the woodworking or millwork industry.
  • Proficiency in various finishing techniques, including staining, varnishing, painting, and color matching. Familiarity with different types of wood and their characteristics.
  • Keen eye for detail and the ability to identify and correct imperfections in the finish.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and the ability to work with precision and control.
  • Strict adherence to safety guidelines and protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and address finishing issues effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Effective time management and the ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to stand, bend, lift, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.
  • High school diploma or equivalent. Additional certifications or vocational training in woodworking or finishing techniques are preferred.
