Job Purpose
The Fingerprint Specialist provides excellent customer service and assistance to the public and HMC Employees in recording fingerprints in the IdentoGO system. The specialist must be able to work with the public, display a cheerful and inviting demeanor, smile, manage applicants with sensitivity and courtesy, and ensure the applicant is treated with respect as a customer of the Harry Meyering Center.
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
Wage: $18.00 per hour.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide supervision and assistance to individuals in a genuine and respectful manner while maintaining professional boundaries.
- Maintain cleanliness of the fingerprinting equipment and ensure safe working environments.
- Must safeguard all areas where Personal Identifiable Information (PII) is vulnerable, such as the applicant's paperwork and identification, electronic biometric data, and reports.
- Perform quality biometrics processing, including capturing electronic fingerprints, photographs, and signatures within established program-wide processing times.
- Screen applicants entering the facility to ensure they have a valid appointment notice and identification allowing their entry into HMC.
- Pursue professional growth and development.
- Manage and complete administrative paperwork accurately, such as tracking processing time for applicants, reconciling paperwork of biometrics captured, assisting in maintaining a visitor control log for non-applicants entering the facility, signing off on facility checks, and other administrative duties as needed.
- Maintain equipment's operation by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs.
- Assist with clerical and administrative duties between customer appointments.
- Attend all staff meetings and complete all required training.
- Maintain HIPAA Compliance in all written or verbal communications, both external and internal to HMC.
- Follows all health and safety policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years of age and have high school diploma or general education degree.
- One year experience in prior customer service field.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with individuals, public, and co-workers.
- Must be self-motivated and exhibit strong interpersonal communication skills, able to problem solve and respond effectively to resolve situations that may arise to complete fingerprinting process in an efficient and polite manner.
- Must have a basic knowledge of technology programs. IE: Microsoft Office products. Be able to use and/or be willing to learn technology to complete job tasks.
- Displays a positive attitude towards the job and co-workers.
- Must work with colleagues and have the ability to work independently to carry out job duties as assigned.
- Must pass a MN Department of Human Services Background Study.
- Must be able to pass financial background checks.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform the essential job functions consistent safely and successfully with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards.
- Must have the ability to regularly kneel, crouch; occasionally required to sit, climb, and balance.
- Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds; occasionally lift or move 50 pounds.

Harry Meyering Center, Inc. is a residential provider for adults with physical and developmental disabilities. Harry Meyering Center, Inc. opened in 1973 as a home for 44 individuals with developmental disabilities, which was made possible by the efforts of the local ARC and the parents of those 44 individuals. We have since grown to serve 150 people in three programs, which include the Intermediate Care Facility (ICF), the Supportive Living Service (SLS), and Semi-Independent Living Services (SILS/SLS In-home).
