Job Description

Supports development and maintenance of effective and efficient processes for accurate & timely generation of external reporting of financial results in accordance with regulatory requirements and generally accepted accounting principles; prepares internal reporting of operating results to monitor actual performance and support management decision making. Supports efforts in preparation of audit response and other reporting channels in accordance with set deadlines (e.g., federal & state taxes, credit agency reporting, & other ad hoc reporting as needed).

Experience

  • 1-3 years of experience in corporate accounting or finance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Public Accountant
  • Experience in public accounting
  • Master's degree in Business Administration or Accounting

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
  • Able to assume responsibility for reviewing accounting records of significant entity or focus area

  • Proven ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Able to work in a team environment, collaborating and communicating with staff across all levels

  • Proven ability to prioritize/complete tasks and manage multiple assignments/deadlines
  • Excellent presentation, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Proficient in computerized accounting systems and Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint

Job Responsibilities

  • Supports preparation of the financial reporting activities of Children’s including the quarterly and annual regulatory required statements.
  • Supports preparation of the financial statements, footnotes, MD&A, and other supporting documentation; ensures clerical accuracy, and maintains the financial statement tie-outs.
  • Supports preparation of the monthly financial packages distributed to Finance department management, senior leaders, board, and board sub-committees.
  • Supports audit efforts and manages work papers for year-end financial audit, involving compliance, regulatory, and other assigned audits.
  • Helps compile Form 990 tax returns and other required federal and state tax documents.
  • Supports research efforts related to regulatory and GAAP accounting treatment.
  • Prepares materials supporting education and communication of updates to accounting guidance and policies and helps prepare training materials for accountants and Finance partners.
  • Supports month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes for significant entity or focus area.
  • Assists team members and leaders by helping to resolve issues.
  • Identifies opportunities to improve processes.
