The Role

About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Financial Crimes Specialist for the Corporate Risk group’s Financial Crimes Risk Management line of business.

In this role, you will:

  • Participate in complex initiatives and identify opportunity for process improvements within scope of responsibilities.
  • Perform risk assessment to provide input and recommendations for financial crimes customer exit process strategies.
  • Evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of policies, procedures, processes and internal controls.
  • Conduct customer screening alert reviews, review findings, determine actions needed following findings.
  • Review and assess business, operational, or technical assignments or challenges that require research, evaluation, and selection of alternatives, and exercise independent judgment to guide medium risk deliverables.
  • Perform investigative research, root cause evaluation and consulting regarding complex financial crimes transactions, policy violations and suspicious situations with moderate to high risk.
  • Present recommendations for resolving more complex situations and exercise independent judgment while developing full knowledge proficiency in the function, policies, procedures and compliance requirements.
  • Take action on control failures in bank processes and procedures.
  • Collaborate and consult with associates on all levels.
  • Lead, participate in and provide support for projects and initiatives.
  • Provide input to development and delivery of a wide range of individual education for financial crimes awareness.
  • Support the operational needs of Financial Crimes Investigations through any organizational and process changes.

Required Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of Financial Crimes, Operational Risk, Fraud, Sanctions, Anti-Bribery, Corruption experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education.

Desired Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of investigations or research experience.
  • Knowledge of BSA, AML, Fraud, and sanctions related regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience in authoring reports including the ability to compile, analyze, and interpret underlying data.
  • Understanding of relationship exit programs.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and SharePoint.
  • Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) and/or Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) certification.

Job Expectations:

  • Contribute to customer exit program operations.
  • Review alerts on restricted customers through designated customer screening tool.
  • Analyze processes, make conceptual and technical recommendations to streamline or enhance them.
  • Understand corporate polices, controls, and business procedures related to our work.
  • Meet all deadlines and targets.
  • Display high quality of work, paying special attention to detail.
  • Remain flexible throughout change.
  • Take initiative, be inventive, and think critically.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to work at one of the approved locations in the job posting.

  • This position offers a hybrid work schedule.
