We're looking for a Financial Controller who combines technical accounting mastery with a rigorous approach to financial governance and process optimization. You will take senior ownership of the financial control framework, starting with the controls surrounding the physical and intangible asset portfolio of the entire Picnic group. This role is expected to have significant impact on the control framework of remaining processes. As we scale a best-in-class Finance function, we need an expert who can move beyond manual execution to architect robust, automated financial reporting infrastructure across our entities. Working closely within the Group Control Team, you will ensure total balance sheet integrity, drive cross-departmental standardization, and implement the internal controls necessary to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
- Financial Governance & Ownership: Take end-to-end accountability for the global Fixed Asset Register, ensuring technical compliance, accurate valuation, and uniform accounting policy application across all Picnic entities.
- Month-End & Consolidation Oversight: Lead the close process for fixed assets and capital expenditure at the group level. You will manage depreciation runs, lease accounting, and the consolidated reporting of asset-related KPIs to the leadership team.
- Cross-Functional Process Optimization: Critically evaluate and re-engineer asset-tracking workflows across IT, Operations, and Country Control teams. You will design and implement automated internal controls and systems integrations to eliminate reporting inefficiencies and risks.
- Technical Compliance & Policy: Act as the group's subject matter expert on capitalization criteria and asset lifecycles. You will establish clear accounting guidelines and policies, ensuring cross-functional departments compliance.
- Audit Mastery: Serve as the principal lead for external auditors and regulatory authorities regarding group investments, taking full ownership of year-end audit files, disclosures, and complex accounting positions.
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics. A professional qualification (e.g., RA, RC, ACCA, CIMA) is highly desirable.
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in a Financial Control, Group Accounting, or Audit management role, with a heavy emphasis on balance sheet control.
- Technical Excellence: Deep, practical knowledge of financial reporting standards (IFRS / Dutch GAAP).
- Internal Controls & Process Design: Proven track record of designing, implementing, and monitoring internal control frameworks and automated financial workflows across departments.
- Systems & Data Savvy: Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and data analysis tools. Solid experience with enterprise-grade ERP systems is required (Workday is a significant advantage). Affinity with AI-building solutions!
- Communication & Stakeholder Management: Fluency in English, with the clarity and confidence required to align country controllers, operational leads, and external auditors on strict financial guidelines.
